They're building a few 5 guys burger places in town (first in the area), and I was wondering what they compare to, or if they're even worth trying... Are they just the regular crap like McD's or BK, or more similar to Ruby Tuesday or something like that?

Also, there's a Red Robin not too far away...Are they any good or worth trying?

I'm not a big burger person so I'm not too familiar with these places, but I'd rather not go if its just an overpriced Burger King or whatnot..

Of that list, I'd say Red Robin, by far.

There's a local place here called Char Grill, that is simply the best, though. Can't be beaten by any place, anywhere.

Ruby Tuesday had a burger with shrimp on it. How can you do any better than that? Beef, cheese, BBQ sauce, shrimp, some bacon, lettuce, tomato. Sounds perfect to me.

You can't beat the Monster Burger from Hardees. It'll feed you for two days.

If you're in the Twin Cities, you can't beat Lions Tap, although i guess it's not quite fast food. Otherwise Hardees or Burger King.

How about a burger with cheese, bacon and a fried egg?

Red Robin is okay, but it's not great. Five Guys is all over the place in the DC metro area. They are the tops around here.

Are there no Harvey's in the US? They would get my vote if they were on there.

Out of the list in the poll, I've only ever heard of McDonald's, Burger King, and Applebees (although I haven't seen an Applebees before)

My god, 5 Guys is the only true burger place on your list. The other places are just POS chains that pretend to make good burgers. Man, you have a lot to learn about a good, artery clogging burger if those are your choices.

Never heard of 5 Guys. This poll is worthless without In n Out, though.

Yeah WTF I hate people who don't recognize In-n-Out. I've been to In-n-Out at least a dozen times this year already. Maybe more. Red Robin? ONCE.

Problem is a lot of people haven't had them. Unless you're in Cali or certain parts of AZ you're SOL. I'm not in either :( But they're my first stop every time I head down to Cali. I fiend for an In n Out burger the rest of the time. Like now for example

Psst, Five Guys is a chain that covers almost 20 states.

Five guys is good, but not the best burger I've ever had.

OP, Five guys is worth checking out. I expect the quality of Five guys to drop exponentially as they expand further and further. So get it while it's good.

Yeah.

Also, imo, Red Robin has some of the worst burgers I've ever had, for a restaurant anyways, I'd rather have a burger at Chili's than Red Robin.

Never had Red Robin or In & Out so I can't comment on either one, but IMO 5 Guys burgers are very overrated ... my favorite on the OP's list would be the Ruby Tuesday sirloin burger.

You can't group Red Robins with McDs and other fast food joints. RR is on a higher part of the restaurant chain than ff places.

But the good thing about RR is there unlimited fries. They have some really good fries...add some ranch sauce and damn, it's so good. Smoe of the burgers are good, some are nasty. It's a little pricey too.

Out of your list, I've been to McD's, Burger King, and once I went to Red Robin. I vomited repeatedly after going to Red Robin. So although it pains me, I would have to vote for Burger King. Ugh. Guess I won't vote.

Where's Krazy Jim's Blimpy Burger ?

I haven't really had a decent burger at one of the Applebee's style chains. (Red Robin, Ruby Tuesday, TGI Fridays, etc)

Although I do like the mini-burgers from Ruby Tuesday's.

I usually end up at a local bar for good burgers. Chaz's bar here in town, Mason's in Livonia, or Cobo Joe's in Detroit. (The "Cobo Joe" burger = 1/2 pound patty, 1/2" think slice of Velveeta, a stack of ham, plus the regular lettuce, tomato, onion.... I'd pass on Thanksgiving dinner for a Cobo Joe burger :D)
