5 Dolla Footlongs

They both suck compared to Harris Teeter.

First of all, Harris Teeter has 1 or 2 "half subs" (about 8 inches) on special every day, $2.49. Tuesday, it's any made-to-order "half sub" for $2.49. So, pick up two and you've got about 16" of sub for $5, not those puny Quiznos/Subway dealies.

Also, friday = any made to order "whole sub" for $3.99 - 16" of sub for 4 bucks.

I also noticed that since they're made fresh in front of you, they are substantially tastier.

If I *had* to pick a chain, I'd go with Quiznos. But I don't bother. They're farther away, the subs are smaller, more expensive, and not as good.

And I pity people whose only satisfaction in life seems to be hating on something that is popular for no other reason than to try to appear uber-cool and feel morally superior.

Not that I'm a big fan of most chains-- but you won't catch me looking down my nose at someone whose tastes and preferences are different than mine.

For all of the ATOT east coasters, you can get a 10inch hoagie for $3.99 from 4-8pm at Wawa. Might not be the best hoagie you've ever had or can get, but you definitely can't beat it for the price.

I hate on shitty things for the sake of hating on shitty things. In fact, that's why most people hate on things. That shit isn't popular where you live because it's the best, it's the most popular because of marketing and the lack of availability of real restaurants and delis. Like I said, the midwest, where souls go to die. As David Tosh said, the middle of the country is for people who gave up on their dreams.

I go to the deli in the grocery store and get a 2-foot sub for $9, that has 5 times as much meat and is better made than either the subway or quiznos subs. It's good for 3 meals.

before i used to get all giddy about quiznos and preferred them over subways (I HATED SUBWAYS) but then i realized all the sandwiches at quiznos taste pretty much the same. I'll take $5 chicken bacon ranch w/ red wine vinaigrette instead of ranch and spinach instead of salad ANYDAY

I like how subway's subs taste much more, so I would definitely go there, and have even when Quizno's was cheaper or closer or both.

Normally I prefer subway because it's cheaper. If you are telling me I can get the exact same size sub for $5 at subway or quiznos, I would pick quiznos... but last time I was at quiznos $5 would be like 3" sub and at subway it would buy you a 12".

Quizno's has a special for a large for $5..

If I could have any of the Quizno's subs for $5--I'd definitely stock up on the black angus's, but they have a very limited selection of subs that are $5, while Subway offers up their entire menu for that price.

Yeah I just did some research. Subway, you get a footlong sub for $5. Quiznos, you get a "large" which means a 9" sub. I like Quiznos, but I don't like them enough to pay the same for 25% less sub.

I generally prefer Subway; every time I've eaten at Quiznos, I've been disappointed. Many of their sandwiches look good, but I generally don't eat any sort of mayonnaise, fatty sauces and meats, or cheese, so that knocks out about 2/3 of their menu...with what's left being fairly untasty.

They both are pretty unimpressive but I do eat subway because it's cheap and slightly better than going to mcd's...but if they are the same price I'll eat quiznos

Why the hell would you get a sandwich then? Peanut butter and jelly?

There's chicken too you know? I don't know about subway/quiznos but Jerry's makes an awesome vagitarian sandwich.

I think I'd choose quizno's over subway although I really like the meatball subs at Subway and they're really cheap.

I also hate the people who rail on chains. "Oh I have this great place here and it's superior to any chain". WELL GOOD FOR YOU. That doesn't help anyone but you. Chains are successful because it still tastes good. I can't tell you how many independent Italian places tasted like @$$ (and I've been to plenty in NYC) even compared to Olive Garden. Their "homemade" sauce is as homemade as mine... it's not superior in any way and are pretty much bland. Being special doesn't make them superior. If you found a good place locally, good for you. It doesn't mean everyone has one of those and it doesn't mean chains taste bad even if there are better.

At least at chains, you know what to expect from one city to another. Have you any idea how many times I've wasted $40 per person (split bill for everyone) for 1 dish only to be disappointed time and again? I can't name a single place in the city that left a lasting impression. Well, there is 1, and that's Vincent's... and they happen to have another location here on LI too. Is that a chain? Why yes, yes it is.

rh71: You would hate living in Chapel Hill, NC. They have some sort of hate for chains here. I have seen barely any here, and althouth I have no proof of it, lots of people have anecdotally told me that there is some sort of counterincentive via city ordinances that makes it almost impossible for them to make good money here unless they are supermarkets (so stuff like radio shack, fast food and pizza places, et al are very rare here). This is the first large town I have lived in that you can't see a chain store hardly anywhere. The only one besides grocery and pharmacy stores I have seen is a Wendy's. To be honest, this is one of the things I don't like aobut this town... I have seen zero cell stores for one.

i have a massive disslike for mayo and excessive sauce as well

but i do like meat and cheese

The quality of Quizno's seems better. But I like both 🙂 I'd probably pick Subway over Quizno's though, usually. Depends on the mood I'm in. I might want a cold sandwich or a hot sandwich.

Well there are mom & pop hardware stores who hate the Home Depots and Lowes too. Can't blame the entrepreneurs for trying to make a living. At least in these cases nobody is saying mom & pops is the best! Their screws are so much more solid than Home Depot's!

subway, mucho more veggies, mucho more flavor.

I got one of the quizno $5 subs the other day, just wasn't that impressed. I missed my chicken breast, lettuce, tomato, onion, bannana pepper, jalapeno, spinach, pickles and green peppers with mustard if I'm feeling health, southwest sauce if I'm not. For the same price I get all that and get to not have cold cuts.

I've eaten at GOOD Deli's like Jerry's in LA and a few others. The Prime Rib Pepper Corn sub from Quiznos is about as good as it gets. I love Jerry's, but the few subs I get at Quiznos are OUTSTANDING. Chain or not Quizno's is a good spot to eat, I wonder how these deli's you go to magically are better. The ones that get better meats will be better of course, but cost A LOT more too.

for the price Quiznos 🙂
