5 devices on IRQ 11?? And the "problem" is that...

...it works perfectly :)

I just got the MSI KT7Pro2A and for some reason all these:

1. Creative SB Live! Basic (WDM)
2. Intel 21143 Based Fast Ethernet Adapter
3. Nvidia Geforce2 MX (6.31)
4. VIA USB Universal Host Controller
5. VIA USB Universal Host Controller

Devices landed on IRQ 11 and the system (win2k) doesn't seem to have one single problem with it :) And when I'm playing for example CS all of the devices must be utilized, MS Explorer mouse (USB), Gf2 MX, Sb Live, The network... oki not the second USB controller :p

Just thought it was quite amazing :) I've always encountered problems when more than 2 devices share the same IRQ (usually the soundcard and videocard)

I wonder if it's the mobo or win2k?

That's teh way it's supossed to be. I know for people who are migrating from win98se this seems wierd but that's whats supossed to happen. Besides if it ain't broke don't fix it. ;)

I know that IRQ sharing is supposed to happen and work, but I have encountered problems with it many times (espacially when the devices sharing IRQ are heavily utilized).

and RossGr
I know, and I won't touch it :)

(edit) All the times I have had problems with it it has been in win9x,
so you're telling me that it is the winNT core and not the awesome MSI board ;)? (/edit)

<< Note that Windows 2000 does not have the ability to rebalance resources as does Microsoft Windows 98. Once PCI resources are set, they generally cannot be changed. If you change to an invalid IRQ setting or I/O range for the bus that a device is on, Windows 2000 cannot rebalance the resource it assigned to that bus to compensate. Windows 2000 does not have this ability because of the more complex hardware schemas it is designed to support. >>

Thanks for the link CRV, I defenetly didn't know that ^

BTW I have been running win2k for 5 months now on different machines ... and I aint switching to a 9x core ever again. Hmm... well If someone gave me money to go back I probably would ;)
