I thought that once the screen has been used ( in the frame of minutes ) most if not all the dead pixels would appear?

Tonight i was installing Rome: Total War and I found 5 on the black screen around the install box..

3 green
1 red
1 blue

All exTREMELY hard to see, even on a black background.. I almost don't want to send it back, but i think i will..

If it was 1 or 2 I can live with it, 5? I don't know.

Does Dell cross ship?

You can't talk to anybody in India even if you wanted to now...

Been using a Dell 19" for almost a year now, no dead pixel. In fact, I've used a number of LCDs, Apple Cinema, Samsung, NEC, Viewsonic, Sony, and still no dead pixel. Are you the kind of people who pokes at the LCD thinking it's a giant touch screen?

Also, if you ever want to sell it you are in trouble with 5 dead pixels when everybody else trying to sell has 0 or 1.

You know this for a fact? I believe Dell still has offshore people in India for consumer support. All the business suport was brought back though.

Call or email them. Dell is great with returns.

Just tell them you are unhappy with it. I just retuned a few items. They sent the UPS man right to my house and picked it up...free!!!

I just emailed them to set up the return...too easy.

Did they send you a new unit first?

I want a new monitor before I send this one back.

Up...

I was just rereading the long thread in the Video forum..

It seems the last 4 or 5 people are on their 3rd and 4th replacements still with dead pixels..

Makes me wonder if i should just stick this out..

Again, Only on a black background, and even then I cannot see them from my seat..

If you can't see them, don't bother.

I was just thinking that too..

If i set the background to solid black, I can't see them.

I did buy it through the Tech Shop at work, so i do have Carry In replacement.. Guess i'll hold onto it.

check to see if you have backlight problem...

this replacement i got has hardly any to no backlight problem. backlight issue in my opinion is a lot more distracting and noticeable than dead/stuck pixels. because you can see it from any distance in dark backgrounds. anyways...there's more dust on my screen than dead/stuck pixels, and i am always too lazy to whipe it off anyways....honestly folks, just take a look at your screen. but i can understand, not wanting to keep it.

i use to hate deadpixels, but with the 2005fpw, the backlight is more of a problem than deadpixels...so i am actually thinking of keeping this 5 deadpixel monitor because it's better than having bl problems.

plus, after like a week with it, it doesn't really bother me anymore. i've become accustomed to it, sorta like what i have to the ghosting, screendoor, faded blacks, need i list more?

I can agree with that..

My backlight bleeding is MINIMAL at best. slightly in the upper right corner..

And jpeyton made me think... I CANT see them on the solid black background from my seat.

I don't want the hassle of returning, but if they ship first, it wouldn't be as bad.

haven't been able to talk to Dell yet.. Who should I email, and with what in the email.

Unless someone changes my mind..I think i'll keep.

Getting it replaced doesn't guarantee zero dead pixels. Dell doesn't pre-check each panel for you.

I know that, but if they are pay shipping and cross ship, there is no harm in trying..

I think I am going to keep though. Like you said, don't bother.
