5% cashback from Discovercard for grocery purchases in December

Saw at FW and I verified at the Discover website. 5% off up to 200.00 in grocery purchases. So it's 10.00 back. Not a huge cashback but hey, we're cheap and this is Hot Deals.

I signed up. It stinks that they cap it out at $10, but, since I put all my groceries on Discover anyway, it's a wee bit of extra cash.

Is this the typical Discover promotion where you have to call them to sign up for it? Seems like every few months they switch promotions and I have to call to sign up for every new promo.

You can sign up online. The 5% back on groceries promo is only good through December.

Every three months they have a new promotion for 5% cashback. This particular one (5% groceries), is in addition to the one that's going on now, which is for restaurants and movies, (rentals included).

I wonder if signing up for this moves you to this program if you are already on a cashback card like open road which is year round 5% back on gas. The rotating one only has 5% back on gas for 3 months a year.
