5 billion? there's no chance that could be true

that is what i thought.

i mean... what are there like 6.5 billion ppl in the world?
reference

and if world poverty is the problem that these stars say it is... then how can there be that many ppl who actually own a teevee?

Number of people watching - 5 billion
Number of bands playing - 80
Number of people in poverty that will be affected by Live 8 - 0

There are some things money can't buy... sorry.

Of course, there is no way in hell 5 billion people are watching it. I doubt even 1 billion tune in.

You do know what the point of Live8 is, don't you?

MTV/VH1 seem to think that people are highly interested in what their no-name idiot hosts have to say, and they might play 1 song out of set. But then it's back to talk, talk, talk.

This is more an exercise in mass self-congratulation, an orgy of mutual masturbation by rock's greatest all attempting to make themselves feel worthy by doing nothing more than what they normally do, only now it's "raising awareness."

Phew...cynicism storm passing...

Agreed. The same number of children are still gonna starve to death as this concert goes on.

For a highly controversial G8 meeting at Gleneagles.

Edit: Not to mention how stupid it is to think that a large audience to broadcast music will change elite interests.

Whoever's doing the mixing needs to take a permanent break, can't even hardly hear the vocals... :frown: -kd5-

5 billion?
Shens. I haven't even heard about it until today and I live in a fairly well informed corner of the planet. I can imagine how many Chinese/Indian/African people are watching it...

no i m not, idepending on what channel its on i prob wouldent even be able to watch it anyway, i have teh most basic of basic cable plans

Hopefully I can grab a torrent of it, as I have no time to waste today starting in 2 minutes.

5 billion though, that's the biggest load of sh1t ever. I'd be surprised if there were HALF a billion watching.
