I looked and didn't see this in a search here.

http://www.namebargain.com/myurl is offering $5.99 domain registration until Friday the 23rd. This outfit seems to be part of register.com. It appears to be designed for self-serve off the Website without any claims to much customer service.

They promise their self service domain configuration will be up shortly and I imagine it will be. $5.99 is not bad with register.com DNS servers included. The $8.00 domain registration at Bargaindomains is only if you supply your own name servers I believe. If not, they tack on another $2.00 to use theirs. Still not bad.

If you do need DNS, I have been using http://CentralInfo.netmyurl free DNS service with good results.

Unfortunately, there are not to many desirable domain names left. That is probably why it is so cheap, if not free. I bet these outfits are counting on raising their renewal fees next year. Has anybody come up with a good solution for cheap renewals?

Regards,

OldSailor,

Ps, I am keeping the Free Film processing, prints and camera pages updated at http://dd950.tripod.com/free_film_processing.htmmyurl if you don't have a lifetime supply yet.

Thanks for all the Hot Deals

The reason there are not many good domains left...

Internic, or network solutions as they are now known, as millions of domain names..when they expire..they are not releasing them to the public, but rather, holding them hoping to auction them off.....

Take jerk.com for instance...if you do a whois on it, you will see it expired 9/12, but you cant register it because they are holding onto it...

just an fyi

Anyone know if this is REALLY a division of Register.com. That
would certainly make this a steaming hot deal if true (register.com
is one of the most reputable--if expensive--registrars on the net).

Anyone know if NameBargain.com offers mult-year renewals for
domains that are already registered (elsewhere). At
$5.99/year, I would be sorely tempted to rewew my names for many,
many years now...

Just wonder what's the deal with namedemo.com? It's free registration for at least one year. I registered one name just for fun and it actually works. I got the name and a web e-mail with my domain name. The only catch I find is my domain name is actually registered under namedemo.com not really under me. Contact information is them. If someone wants the domain, s/he would talk to them instead of me. I don't know what right do I have if someone wants my domain name.

Is there any other catches on namedemo.com since nobody actually mentions it??

Is this some kind of a scam? Or what? I checked ***signs.com and it was available. I hit the back button and checked *****signs.com and it was available but ***signs.com showed up as not availabe. I closed out of the browser, deleted my cookies, tried again and they both show up as not available. What the heck?

When I looked at the registrar, they both show being taken by the same person, in March of this year, with the last update today!

It looks like they are putting holds on any name you type in and don't take. Anyone else have this happen to them?

Oh, and I checked the sites and they do not exist. One show up as page not available and the other as on reserve through register.com

To reply to my own question on namedemo.com. It's also a division under register.com. After reading its service agreement, it does not look good. It can decide to charge you for the domain name if it choose 2 although you can reject and lose your domain name. The part I don't like is that they have full right of your domain name. If someone offers a million for your registered name, you have no right. They can decide to terminate you because someone else wants it... Not good if you have a serious business name.

====
We reserve all rights regarding that domain name registration, including, without limitation, the right to make that domain name registration available to other parties for purchase or registration.

You also acknowledge and agree that NameDemo.com may suspend, cancel, transfer or modify the domain name registration for your NameDemo.com domain name for any reason, in NameDemo.com's sole discretion.

www.domainzero.com is a free service that unlike namedemo, doesnt put ads on your page, and actually registers the domain under your name. you must provide your real info and agree to accept spam.link

Mikedw, that isn't entirely true. Normally, expired domains are held for 30 days in probation in case the owner decides after the expiration to renew. This allows companies with idiots in AP (like the company I used to work for) a chance to get their domain name back after some moron doesn't pay the bill in time. So if you want an expired domain, start checking about 4 weeks after it expires.

Looks like they pulled a fast one on us. They recently changed their service agreement.

"NameBargain.com is a wholesale domain name registration site for individuals or organizations interested in registering domain names with the goal of reselling them."

Their original service agreement said we would have full control over dns...

But for only 35$ (more than it cost to just buy elsewhere) you can upgrade to get the functionality that you originally paid for.
