Mine just came in today. It is quite nice and when i watch dvd's on it it looks great. I had an open bay in my car dash (93 Mitsu Eclipse) so i getto rigged it in there and it looks almost professional. I took the screen apart and flipped the screen around to face the passengers. I am planning on running a DVD player to it from one of the seats and since that means I will need a outlet duplicator, a ps1 car adaptor, and an adaptor for the DVD player. I am thinking i will just get a power inverter (converts 12v car power to indoor power) instead so i could run both devices without a big goofy outlet splitter. So has any one found a good price on a car power inverter????

Anyone know what BATTERY type I would need for this? Maybe one for a r/c car or something... I'm looking for ~1.5 hrs use to mount on a Canon XL1 for a monitor.

Thx

you could probably get a bright enough picture using a standard 7.2 rechargeable battery for R/C cars and such. to get 1.5 hrs of run time you would need a 1500mah or higher battery. if the picture isn't bright enough, you would need a higher voltage pack (9-12v), same capacity.

Hey All...
chiwawa626 sent me an e-mail saying he got in touch with the guy about the lcds....
Here is his e-mail to me...

Ok here goes the details:
Each Lcd is 42 Plus shipping (if you buy a case of 12)
12 Lcds is 504 dollars
12 Shipped is 504 + 50 shipping/handling (parcel post, w/500 insurance, signature conf)
Total is 554 dollars for the 12 case shipped

500/12= 46.17 + Whatever shipping costs to you (priority mail from me, 94085) (shipping can be paid after i guess....that way at-least we get the bulk of the money)

Let me know ASAP how many lcds you want, and if you can pay upfront, i cant afford to pull 550 bux out of my own money for this and since it is a group buy...I have a paypal account, and also i guess we can use money orders?

Go ahead and tell other AT people if they want in.

-----------------------Not a bad deal if you ask me, I'm getting one (two if there are any left over). You may want to e-mail him if you are interested.:)

The Canon ZR series of camcorders use 7.4 volt batteries, so you could pick one up and do a little wiring.

sabahoceanic.com has the BEST prices on these batteries that I've seen anywhere. Pick up a replacement for the BP-522 and you can get 2 batteries with 2400mAh a piece for $80 shipped.

Personally I wouldn't limit myself to ~1.5 hours. As soon as you do you'll start wanting more more more more! And there's nothing worse than having the battery die on you while you're shooting. For ~$100 you can get 2 replacement batteries for the BP-535 which each have a whopping 3750mAh

The best rig to build would have a baseplate for the batteries so you can just snap them on and off. Does anybody know of a place that sells just the plastic baseplates with connectors? It seems like those should be available somewhere. Then you could get some kind of project box, attach the plate, put in a power cable to run to the monitor and you'd be set.

Hey all,
I haven't heard back from chiwawa626 in a couple of days... which doesn't surprise me because in a previous e-mail he said he was extremely busy. So, since I've already gotten a couple of PM's about this, feel free to PM me or send me an e-mail to Modscientist@hotmail.com and I will start a list to pass on info as I find out anything. This list is just for info...It doesn't guarantee anything but info as I get it. I hope this deal goes down. I wish I would have bought one of these back when Target had them on clearance for $30, damn what was i thinking?
