I have that LCD and it does not take svideo, despite what the site says. They provide a cable that connects to the adapter on the monitor and has component video, one audio, and power inputs. The price on that makes the GameVue look like an even better deal.

Any tried this Internal VCD player for the PSOne from Lik-Sang.com yet? It's only $45 + shipping. Installation looks to be a pain but still for:

$50 LCD from Fry's
$35 Pre-owned PSOne from EB
$45 Internal VCD Card
-----

$130 for a complete setup for Playstation games and VCDs it's pretty tempting.

DO NOT HOOK UP A CAR BATTERY TO YOUR UPS!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes it will work. Yes it will kill you. SLA ( Sealed Lead Acid ) batteries, like in your UPS originally, are safe to use indoors. As the name implies, they are sealed. They won't normally vent while being charged. They will vent if they overheat, but that's a safety feature. Car batteries on the other hand aren't sealed. Even those maintenance free ones aren't sealed. Car batteries ( motorcycles too ) will vent gases when charging. These gases tend to be somewhat explosive. Doing this indoors is dangerous. DON'T DO IT.

David

If you do this use an OPTIMA battery, They use a gelled acid and are sealed you can even mount them upside down, and with a UPS they would last forever.
Also I have used an UPS for a inverter and it works pretty well, Make sure yours only has the one battery inside or you will have to do some creative wiring.

How about $50 LCD + $50 Dreamcast (If you can find one, might be less if you can find a used one) = $100 for a complete setup for Dreamcast games (Sega 0wnZ Sony) and VCD's.

I don't know if I mentioned this, but I've been using a 7V 1.8A adapter and it works fine except when you turn the internal speakers up real high and they pull so much power that the screen gets darker.

I've been using it with my Dreamcast on and off and it works well - does free VCD software exist for the DC? I know of one commercial package.

I hope this is ok to post here.... I guess it somewhat applies...
Since I went out and bought a new PSone to use with this screen, I now have an extra AC adaptor. It's an original Sony PSone adaptor, so it's guaranteed to work with these screens. $20.00 delivered via USPS Priority mail, which is exactly what I paid for it off e-bay. I know it's a little more $$ than a generic adaptor, but I wanted an authentic PSone adaptor to make sure it wouldn't damage the screen. Anyone interested? If not, it's going back on E-bay. :)

this is one neat little screen. i got one for 27 bucks at fry's in phoenix

the gamevue by rosen is kinda cheap though, i already took one back due to a whole jagged trail of lcd pixels burning out, on the exchange only one has burned out so far. but what can ya expect for that price.

i am a little too rough on it i guess, make sure to use a protective wrap for the screen when folded down oon the psone, i use a bubble wrap

i use it on my ps1 for the final fantasy games i have missed, i play vcds and dvds using that koss mini player at target

this is one versatile little screen

for the power i use this powerline, the two features of this being the 2000mA digital outputm normal ones like my 500mA will work, but it got too hot too easily and made me put it next to the A/C vent in the car to keep it cool, otherwise it will get too hot and drop power in and out, but won't blow the fuse

i got the powerline at walmart for 15, highly recommended. powerful enough for the psone + lcd screen / or the loss minio dvd player

i got two though, using a y cable for the cigarette adapter to play the lcd and the koss, works fine or i can put an inverter on and have the dreamcast play game or vcds

any questions let me know

i'm not sure if this has been posted up before...
but that 960 horizontal resolution is very misleading.
its' actually 320 x 240

the reason why they call it 960 is because each 320 horizonal pixel is made up of 3 different color pixels.

but for comparison sake... it's really 320x240.

don't think you'll get some ultra wide screen effect here.

Hey can someone who has THIS actual screen from outpost.com post a clear digital picture of it on? Id like to see the quality of the screen. How much do these things go for nowadays usually (ie, how hot is $50).

Thanks

Okay, since its been a while since this thread was initially posted, has anyone found any better deals for small portable DVD players that we could use in the car with this thing?

It seems pretty hot to me, since the LCD I've seen for PSONE's is 5" and usually runs about $100.

Anyone know if you could hook this up to a Gamecube, perhaps?
