Heh, Seems to be in the C2 vs C3...lower timings, better results so I'm definitely staying away from that over priced Corsair DDR500 @ Cas3

I found the same - till I ran tests at CAS 2.5 and 1:1. And that is the Corsair mem rated at 3-4-4-8 at 250 running 2.5-4-4-7 at 257MHz.

that was the best the OCZ could do @ 252-254fsb.

it couldnt run any lower cas settings~
it couldnt run GAT turbo, f1, or streetracer~
it couldnt run nbs667~
and it couldnt run RDA/CPC enabled~

the loss of those tweaks really hurt the higher speed ram

I figured as much on the OCZ (and Corsair among others) with no Jedi Specs released on DDR500, just hitting the speed is the Mems claim to fame.

Variations on this theme were the "proof" that DDR400 run at 5:4 ratio at CAS 2 could normally meet or beat performance of higher speed DDR500 memory, which used slower CAS 3 timings.

why even run bh-5's at 5:4 when you could run them at 252 mhz 1:1 with 2-2-2-6 timings with a little extra voltage

ok ok j/k j/k i guess most people don't know how to vmod their board to get those voltages nor want to risk killing their ram...

I am not much into modding my mobo for the voltage, not to mention how difficult it has become to get BH-5 chips. I didn't try to push the PC3500 I have during the test - I ran at 250FSB for all three settings. If I can find the numbers I will put them up here. When I was running the PC3500 it was at 220 - limited by the CPU I was using at the time. I couldn't get it to boot at 250 1:1 no matter what settings I used and I didn't volt mod my motherboard so I just went with the PC4000 at CAS 2.5 now at 258MHz FSB.

1:1 is not the only game in town. 5:4 gives it a serious run for its money. (pun)
i could even go as far as to say 5:4 is better due to its higher headroom (264fsb) compared to the OCZ 1:1 dying out @ 254fsb.

granted ~ if the 1:1 ram could run GAT streetracer it would be the faster choice by far. but in this case it couldnt run any GAT at my speed

Nice job Thugs!!! I am not surprised by the results as well...I think those memory sticks may have to go down as one of the best items you have ever bought. How long have you had them now and they beat all comers consistently on all your different systems???

ive had these KHX sticks for 1 year as of next month.
the KHX3000/IC7 combo is definately hard to beat.

im sure many of you concidered my results (last year) a fluke, but here i am 1 year later still beating out pc3200, pc3500, pc3700, pc4000.

if you choose the right CPU (to match your memory), and tune your memory carefully (on an Abit IC7) ~ there is actually more (gaming) power in the ram then there is in the CPU :Q

I think a lot of those KHX3000's were BH5 and BH6, hence THUGS' great success with them

since these have 6ns chips (pc2700) id have to assume they are BH-6.

these are the same 6ns chips we used back in our P4B533 days running @ 3:4 450ddr cas 2.5-3-2-7 on only 2.6v. it just so happens the IC7 loves these chips as much as the P4B533 did

ive also run these sticks on an Asus P4G8X (granite bay) and a P4P800 (springdale) with good results. (just not nearly as good as the Abit IC7)

Again this helps to show that low latency helps a lot to remain competitive. But seriously the difference is too small to call a winner here. The better memory is the one that is cheaper in this case.

That's why I was never intimidated by anything faster than 400mhz ram.

The KHX3000/512 are all Bh-5, and in short supply. Get them while they are hot! There now have also been sightings of BH-5 in the KHX2700/512. It seems that the chances of getting BH-5 are better in the 512mb modules than in the 256mb modules.

Nice benches Thugs. The only thing missing is the awesome SiSoft mem benches

to show how the PC3700 wipes the floor in benchmarks that have no relevance to real world performance.
