I don't consider being able to have complete control over your economic output a luxury. There are plenty of medical conditions that BC pills can treat that have little to do with pregnancy.

I look at this situation and I don't like either side. Birth control is such a mundane topic, it shouldn't be religiously opposed to. On the other hand, people should take on their own personal responsibility and pay for their own sex products, not force other people to pay for them.

It doesn't seem like forcing anyone to pay for BC, seeing as the company isn't a charity and the benefits are given to employees in exchange for their labor. It just seems ridiculous that a corporation can now claim to hold religious beliefs. Buy I guess it will be narrowly tailored to only effect women and their personal health choices. Will the court stand by their decision if other closely held corporations want exemptions from other covering other medical treatments or other regulations?

That's fine, but having access to medicine is a luxury. There is no way you're going to win the argument that having access to medicine ins't anything but a luxury, like its a right or something. You are using someone else's acquired skills and knowledge as well as someone else's product. Both investing time and money into those things and you can hardly consider the use of those things anything but a luxury.

Bigotry is about people. Last time I checked, preventative care isn't a person. So it would be awfully difficult to be bigoted against it.

It really doesn't matter anyways, because no women's preventative care has been singled out. They still get it, just not necessary the kind they want. That's hardly excluding care.

I know it's just terrible to conservatives to actually have to pitch in to help others, but after growing up without any healthcare and being in a really poor upbringing due to it well... I opt for not putting others in that same situation.

And yes, I have great coverage now, but I also work for a large mega financial corporation and make lots of money. I don't mind paying more taxes to cover the cost.

There are multiple options for birth control, and BC IS a lifestyle choice in >95% of the cases. But it's the liberal dream to be able to live the lifestyle you choose and have others subsidize it, whether they like it or not.

Reconstructive surgery after a mastectomy would most likely fall under standard costs in most health coverage packages.

As for blood tests, my current insurance only covers the bare minimum. It doesn't even cover a urinalysis. I'm also in my mid 50s and my insurance doesn't even cover an EKG as part of my physical. I can get all these things but I have to pay for them.

My heart truly goes out for women who have been raped, even more so if they become pregnant. But why is it HL's responsibility to provide after-the-fact BC in this case, horrible though it is?

Planned Parenthood has money. Go get your BC goodies from them.
