All that really needs to happen now is a small Muslim owned business should not allow medications derived from pigs.

Then sit back and force them to be allowed to do this, in order to show the case in the poor light it is meant to be seen.

How is birth control through a pill not a luxury?

If Republicans think birth control is a luxury, they should go tell every woman you can find that. If you think medicines in forms of pills are a luxury, you should tell everyone.

I don't have an objection to that. Their employees might.

I don't consider being able to have complete control over your economic output a luxury. There are plenty of medical conditions that BC pills can treat that have little to do with pregnancy.
Whereas boob jobs increase the likelihood of pregnancy making men more attracted to her 🙂

I look at this situation and I don't like either side. Birth control is such a mundane topic, it shouldn't be religiously opposed to. On the other hand, people should take on their own personal responsibility and pay for their own sex products, not force other people to pay for them.
It doesn't seem like forcing anyone to pay for BC, seeing as the company isn't a charity and the benefits are given to employees in exchange for their labor. It just seems ridiculous that a corporation can now claim to hold religious beliefs. Buy I guess it will be narrowly tailored to only effect women and their personal health choices. Will the court stand by their decision if other closely held corporations want exemptions from other covering other medical treatments or other regulations?

Well given that Democrats didn't require health plans to similarly provide viagra for free I guess then you would agree that Democrats think that male reproductive health drugs are a luxury.

So I take it then we can fully expect Democrats to tell every man they see their reproductive health care is somehow less worthy of being covered than that of women right?:sneaky:

Not getting a boner is same as an unwanted pregnancy. More things for Republicans to share with women.
That's the beauty of this ruling, the more Republicans defend it, the deeper into the woods they get.

That's fine, but having access to medicine is a luxury. There is no way you're going to win the argument that having access to medicine ins't anything but a luxury, like its a right or something. You are using someone else's acquired skills and knowledge as well as someone else's product. Both investing time and money into those things and you can hardly consider the use of those things anything but a luxury.

They are both reproductive health care.

I guess you are doubling down on the idea that reproductive health care should only be accessible to women.

I guess that makes you a bigot.

Thank you for summing up the GOP health care plan.

And thank you for summing up liberal thoughts on health care for us. Medicine isn't a right, its a luxury. You can't just arbitrarily start claiming the fruits of other's labor are all of sudden a right.

BTW, I'm not part of the GOP so you're going to have to wait on that summary.

Viagra is not birth control. So it's not preventative care. Bigotry is singling out women's preventative care for exclusion.

Bigotry is about people. Last time I checked, preventative care isn't a person. So it would be awfully difficult to be bigoted against it.

It really doesn't matter anyways, because no women's preventative care has been singled out. They still get it, just not necessary the kind they want. That's hardly excluding care.

Honestly after this stupidity and debacle, I really wish we went with a single payer system that the government controls, ie, no discrimination.

I know it's just terrible to conservatives to actually have to pitch in to help others, but after growing up without any healthcare and being in a really poor upbringing due to it well... I opt for not putting others in that same situation.

And yes, I have great coverage now, but I also work for a large mega financial corporation and make lots of money. I don't mind paying more taxes to cover the cost.

We are steadily moving closer to it, it's just a matter of time. The evidence for single payer working better is so overwhelming, sooner or later it will work its way through.

There's a famous George Orwell quote that goes: "to see what is in front of one's nose needs a constant struggle". That seems to apply pretty well here.

I'll see your quote and raise you two more:

"So much of left-wing thought is a kind of playing with fire by people who don't even know that fire is hot."

"If you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face - forever."

nehalem256, why is this a men vs woman issue. Its health care, I also understand why you may not like the ACA. Why not shelve those issues and see that the real item that is troubling is how involved should a employer be in your health care?

There are multiple options for birth control, and BC IS a lifestyle choice in >95% of the cases. But it's the liberal dream to be able to live the lifestyle you choose and have others subsidize it, whether they like it or not.

Reconstructive surgery after a mastectomy would most likely fall under standard costs in most health coverage packages.

As for blood tests, my current insurance only covers the bare minimum. It doesn't even cover a urinalysis. I'm also in my mid 50s and my insurance doesn't even cover an EKG as part of my physical. I can get all these things but I have to pay for them.

My heart truly goes out for women who have been raped, even more so if they become pregnant. But why is it HL's responsibility to provide after-the-fact BC in this case, horrible though it is?

Planned Parenthood has money. Go get your BC goodies from them.
