so... dead island is not worth it even with 60% off?

It depends on what you expect from the game.

I spent $10 on dead island. After playing about an hour, I think I paid right around what the game is worth.

Dead island is no left 4 dead, its not even close.

Dead island seems like a good attempt to make a zombie game. But with games like left 4 dead / left 4 dead 2 setting the bar so high, dead island seems that it is lacking something.

To be honest, dead island feels like its half a game. A multiplayer version where people could play the zombies would have added so much more to the gaming experience.

Some type of matchmaking, or game lobby where people could join a lobby before the game starts would have been nice.

Is Dead Island a good game? I think its a decent game, its right there on the border of what I call a good game.

Does Dead Island bring anything new to the table? I do not think so. With the versus mode introduced with the left 4 dead series, Dead Island seems outdated. Its dated to the point where it seems outdated.

If you like playing left 4 dead co-op mode more then versus mode, then you may like Dead Island.

Personally, I like playing versus mode more then co-op.

Anyone know if the original Thief series CD's work ok on Win 7, if the Steam versions have any advantages over the CD's in compatibility?

According to a person from Valve on their forum, Thief 1/2 are like the GOG versions and will work with W7.

Right - my question is about the original CD's, whether the Steam versions will provide any advantage over the CD's.

I have no idea if the original CD's will even work on a computer with W7. If they don't that would be the advantage.

I tried playing Thief 2 on Vista but I couldn't get it to work.

But then again - that's Vista. Vista has been terrible for older games. I would say over 50% I've tried installing won't work. Windows 7 has been better.

They added another special, 25% off 'fallen earth' items.

Funny to note a typical example of game marketing.

The game decription in the ad says: "Totally classless".

The instruction manual says:

"While there is no "class" and characters can be anything, the build system is very deep and you should not waste your stats around.
It's crucial to follow a template because if you don't you end up impaired and have to buy expensive respecs or even start over."

Ya, so you make choices on stats that are functionally about exactly like a class - 'be sure to follow a template now!' - but hey, it's totally classless!

I'd say the marketing might be called classless.
