5.1 or 6.1?

I am looking at getting some speakers for my computer since I havent upgraded them in ages. I am thinking either 5.1 or 6.1 however maybe I should go for 7.1? I do a lot of gaming but I also watch DVD's and listen to music so I am not sure. Also I am trying to get these on a budget but still have good quailty (yeah I know probably not possible lol) I am currently looking at maybe this one. Anything around that price range would be nice. Thanks!

P.s sound card is Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum

I like 5.1 speakers myself. 7.1's would sound cool for games but I'd feel like I was in a cage with all those speakers (limited space) and would probably be knocking them over all the time.

Have you looked at the Z-5300's from Logitech. There 5.1's and are pretty good quality for the price though it may be out of your range.

Yeah they do look nice but they are a little too much since I have already spent to much on the rest of the comp lol. I understand when you mean about the 7.1 thats why I was thinking something a little smaller. Do you know if any of the other 5.1 systems are any good? Thanks

I read a review awhile back that said that the Logitech z-640's are pretty good as low end 5.1 speakers go.

7.1's are IMO a waste of money unless you go all out and spend like 1000$.

Personally if you are looking for High Quality Sound here are the top 3... (NO PARTICULAR ORDER)
Klipsch Promedia Ultras
Logitech Z-680's
Creative S750's (i think that is the name... the ones that are interchangeable between 5.1, 6.1 and 7.1)

The lower end there is only one choice.
Z-640's.
