5.1 headphones

if i use 5.1 headphones for a game that supports it, would i set my computers volume so that it would be like having 5.1 speakers?

Are you talking about the Zalman ones? W/ those you plug it all in, and then set it like you would if you had 5.1 speakers.

i use kinyo 5.1 headphones and I have to set speakers to 5.1 in windows to get it working.

Ive buyed 5.1 trusts and ITS COOOOOOOOOOL. My soudcars is Live 5.1 :) the soud,basses and Subwoofer WOW :) i like 5.1 speaker,because i cant have speakers loud,so i cant use it (quiet isnt for me :D ) The Pearens were totaly pissed, so i buyed those headphones and im happy :)

back on topic, i just read mixed reviews for the zalman 5.1. is it worth the $50?

Back to the topic, yeah, I'd like to know if there are better 5.1's out there other than the Zalmans.

I haven't tried any others, but they work pretty well for gaming (far better than regular headphones; you get much better sound positioning, especially for things behind you). They're OK for movies. Not much for music -- the midrange and high-end response is lacking. If you need to play games quietly, they're worth $50, IMO.

I think regular headphones give perfectly good sound from all directions. I don't find any problems when playing games with 3d positional sound, infact I prefer regular headphones over my 5.1 setup. I use a pair of Grado SR80's and I love them.

i love my sony studi monitor mdr-v600's. don't get too loud, but quality is great. I'm using onboard sound. I was thinking of going to the chainteh 7.1 for $24 which I hope would benefit my headphones, and my Logitech z-640's.

I just got my V6 Sonys yesterday ya they are very nice... mine get louder than my ears can handle =)
