i didn't have an option of 12gb otherwise I would have gone with that. Under task manager I just did a quick add and i'm at almost 1/2 of ram with just a quick addition and I don't have a lot running currently either.

That's what I'm saying, you might not be looking in the right place. Assuming Windows 7, you want to look at the number in the red box.

I don't have a whole running atm, and no encoding or anything stressful and it already says Available 4308. I"m already had 1/2 usage of my 8gb

They are a bit better bang for buck, yes. Better quality? Not really, but neither is NVIDIA necessarily. What NVIDIA has is features that AMD lacks, but are not necessarily worth paying extra for - e.g. better dual GPU frametimes, G-Sync for the handful of monitors that support it, PhysX support, ShadowPlay.

Not sure what all of that is, but I do near dual monitor/tv support

That sounds pretty normal for Windows 7 "at rest". Encoding doesn't really add too much memory usage.

All GPUs support dual-monitors. AMD is actually slighly better than Nvidia with multiple monitors because they have Eyefinity. Not that you'd necessarily use that, but it's there.

Yeah dunno what Eyefinity is or if i'd use it haha! The one you priced out...quiet? Since it's main use will be for home/media it does need to be pretty quiet.

I'll pull the trigger on this in mid January...hopefully that will not make a difference in the parts/based on date.

Yeah, the Sapphire dual-fan cooler is pretty quiet. January is a ways off in terms of computer part deal-hunting, so I imagine that you'll need to come back for a refreshed list. The broad strokes will be the same, but the specific deals (and thus parts) will be different.

After thinking about it and looking at the funds I thought it would be better to wait and figured some parts would be upgraded and prices would definitely change.
Thanks for the help and knowledgeable advice...I'll be back ;-)
