4x512 OK on 925x chipset?

I have the Dell8400 w/ the 925x chipset. I currently have 2x512 DDR2 PC4200 533mhz installed, and was thinking about upgrading to 2gb (4x512.) I heard there may be some "timing" issues with having this setup. Will this motherboard be able to handle 4 DIMMs? How do you adjust timing on memory, and what are the optimal settings? Thanks in advance for any help.

You will have to go to a slower 2T command rate and may have to go down to CL4 (I believe this is a normal timing for the value DDR2) and/or possibly even downclock. To what speed, though, I'm not sure, but I know on a DDR1 motherboard you will go to DDR333 instead of DDR400. I'd wager you will go to about DDR2-400.

May I ask why you want to go to 2GB? It's overkill for most things right now.

yea 2gb is probably overkill, but I just found a decent deal on a set of 512 DDR2 sticks ($150) thought I might jump in. How do you downclock, and is it absolutely necessary? This whole timing thing is very new to me.

If the DDR2 memory has 4-4-4 indicated on the chip, is this okay?
