From what I've heard you can cure the inherent problems of the latest J-Micron based MLC drives for a cost. A decent hardware raid card w/cache can supposedly fix stuttering and performance(or lack of) on these drives. Actually I've only seen it confirmed on Core V2's so far but I guess I'll find out.

I'm gonna keep the Vraptors just in case the v2's still have issues even with the raid card. If all else fails I'll have a decent card to throw the raptors on and the ocz's will take a trip to ebay.

I'd love to pick up a couple of X25-M's but the price is way to high right now.

I should have my new system up and running Tuesday night after work.

Let me know if there's something you guys would like tested.

I would love to see some read and write benchmarks on a RAID 5 set with these. If you really want to make my day run HDtune/HDtach/Atto on a degraded RAID 5 set and then see how long it takes to rebuild.

Still waiting on my ram for the new build. Original stuff I ordered ended up being backordered so I had to grab something else. Should be built by next weekend. I ended up sticking one of these in my wife's pc as a game drive and games do load fairly quick...at least compared to the 2500aaks that's being used as an OS drive. Only 1 PCI-e slot as well so sticking the raid card and the 4 drives in is a no go right now. I will of course be taking the drive back out when my ram gets here.

Is this being used as the boot drive or just for storing games?

If boot, do you notice the stutter or hesitation they described in the AT article?

When I install them into my new system next Friday(ish) they will be used as a boot drive(Vista 64 U) in raid 0 running off of the Adaptec controller card. I would not even think about running one(or more) of these as a boot drive without a decent raid card. Wish I had more info for you guys but I'm still waiting on my DDR3 for my new build. Like I said though, I do have one of the SSD's installed in my other pc just as a game drive and it seems pretty decent. Load times are pretty nice. The only thing I wasn't impressed with was patching Company of Heroes. It took forever and seemed to stutter or lock up sometimes which didn't surprise me given the inherent problems of these jmicron based drives. On a side note though I haven't performed any of the ssd fixes yet. Game install times were acceptable. For $69 each + the cost of the Adaptec these things should fly and hold me over until later next year when SSD's will likely be much faster, bigger, cheaper, and have next to zero problems.
