4x 1gb Ballistix 8500 trouble

Just arrived today and put them into my P5N-E and the system wont POST.

Put in 2x and the system will post and work fine.

First off, does anyone have any advice on what to do/check? According to various websites there shouldnt be an issue with 1066 ram and 4x1gb sticks.

Second problem is im trying to run the ram at 1066 - 4-4-4-12 and currently getting errors on test 8 of memtest. But if i run it at 1066 - 5-5-5-15 it works fine, again any suggestions?

I havent touched the voltages.

Thanks

Ok, just upped the memory voltage to 2.3 and im not getting any errors at 1066 - 4-4-4-12.

Is 2.3v anything to worry about?

Just managed to get the 4 sticks working.

Currently going through a memtest with 2.2v 1066 - 5-5-5-15.

Fingers crossed

maybe put a little fan on that thing? 80mm probablu will be quite a difference at 2.3/2.4v.

run it at 5-5-5-16 with 2T and you should be stable. If not, make sure you're on the highest multiplier. If you are, then back down on your FSB (overclock) a little and deal with it.

But shouldn't this memory run at 533MHz at 1:1 and 5-5-5-16 as per default specs?

I must admit my knowledge about o'clocking is still limited to anything prior to 2 core CPUs, but I thought I read the specs on those memory modules right.

While doing my research for the parts for my new rig, I have been hearing how people have had crucial modules die on them and some had even to RMA them 3-5 times.
The reason I bought those modules was because I thought I could run them at a lower FSB speed and at lower voltage than 2.2v, since it's what makes those very unhappy.

The warranty is top notch, but if you have to RMA them 3,4, or 5 times then you might as well get other ones.

1) I have that RAM. It's better to run lower voltage 1066 @ 5-5-5-15 timings.
2) You may need to bump NB voltages to use 4 sticks (MCH or SPP).
3) 533MHz 1:1 is assuming your processor and motherboard can handle a 533MHz Bus (aka 2133MHz FSB).
