Noob question: diff between SAS and NAS? SAS is the interface and NAS is the configuration, no?

Bonus question: why the F are SAS drives so expensive?

Basically, yeah, though I would say NAS (network attached storage) is more of a larger collection of devices beyond the hard drives. We used to call them file servers.

For starters, you should compare enterprise-level SATA drives to SAS drives, since all SAS drives are by definition enterprise-level. Second, bear in mind that SAS drives form a smaller segment of the hard drive market, so the economies of scale dictate their higher price. Also, the SAS interface is a derivative of SCSI which has more going on than an ATA interface and produces a more efficient final product.
