Awesome, thanks everyone! My first attempt will be to try the lube guard shudder fix (red) tube.

A tranny builder specialist told me the following via an email discussion:(no test drive)

The Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) is “shuddering” causing the entire “driveline” to “clang” very rapidly, ... appearing to sound as if it is “grinding.”

The Torque Converter Lock-up Clutch is worn out.

Guys, real dumb question here:
"Is the lock-up clutch and tcc clutch the same thing?" Assume so.

So is this "part" in the torque converter? Assume so.

So my question really is:

Like a standard transmission when the clutch plate becomes really really worn out the engine slips and looses grip. You have to replace the clutch, there is no fluid that goes between the clutch.

With an automatic is the same type of clutch "plate" in the torque converter, is that what is worn out?

Is that why it's impossible to know if it is "actually" worn out or if the "fluid's" ability to grab it is WORN OUT?

Both test drives with a scan tool hooked up the mechanics were able to trigger the "clutch" on/off no problem so can "it" be the worn out part.

So I'm confused how can the clutch mechanism be broken but work perfectly?

Thanks, I'm just looking to expand my knowledge. Thank you everyone.

Hi, well after long analysis and thought process out the yin yang I decided that I could spend the $120-$200 on a flush and drive it and see if it fixed it. I could get a company to install a new valve body I supplied or install a shift kit I supplied or a corvette servo and hope for the best however one thing remained I think the grind noise was the difference between troubleshooting a shutter on it's own and a shutter and a real bad converter problem.

After thinking it over I knew that as much as I hate to say it, just removing the converter and putting it back in would be dumb. It makes sense to rebuild it at the same time. How fun is it to drive around wondering? Especially if you use it for work. The shop that I choose was a wholesale tranny place. They farm out the converter work so converter comes back (or is taken of a shelf because they are a dime a dozen) and is installed. This is no princess in the sky beautiful canopy place with a service manager making 85k. I've got one year warranty on it and a brand new external tranny cooler installed for $1600. I pick it up tomorrow and I'm sure ALL will be fine. It's just the average guy NEVER learns as much as I learn on the forum's from good people like yourself. THANK YOU EVERYONE I'll post back once I go for a 100km/hr drive with no SHUTTER and no GRIND NOISE....

So help me god if it was some stupid MISS FIRE and it was the CAT that was grinding, HIGHLY unlikely 1%. BUT STILL.

I over think. Ok talk to you later.

Shudder.

Shudder.

Shudder.

Not Shutter.

Sorry, but that irritates me...

Glad your problem has gone away.

Not sure what irritates you, I never said my shutter stopped at any time as a result of a flush or some other troubleshooting method. But yes TRANNY WORKS GREAT!!! I'm back on the road. Works flawlessly. I'm happy!

Maybe you need to buy a new transmission shutter? A new one will probably stop when it should.

??????????????????????????
Ok. ...

On a side note I buy AMD.

Yeah, I don't know why you can't figure out that "shutter" and "shudder" are different words... even after I hit you over the head with a clue by four in post #30. :D
