This is ultimately a software solution using the GPU, so it isn’t as power efficient as a dedicated hardware solution
Nvidia had fixed function VP9 4K hardware decoding since 2015 with GM206 and carried over to Pascal and improved to 8K support, competitor twiddling thumbs in 2015/16.

Also funny, on page 5, The Stilt was right saying it doesn't have fixed function hardware decoder but yet some claim it does.
