There is a free app in the MS store I use to play my discs with, AND there is one off the internet as well that does not bomb you with adds all the time through that version is free. I just pop them in and play. I also have Nero 2018 full set I bought, and I think it does that and a heap of other stuff that makes a lot of the stuff I put together look and sound like a pro.
But its not all that bad, and say if you have a Xbox one (x) series what have you, they all have 4K BR Players in them, and honestly I been seeing the Old S units going for under $150 all the time off fakebook, so you can get a kick butt player, get ultimate for it, and for ur pc since you can now Xbox game on both, get the Playstation PC PS Now sub, and between all that goodness, netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Vudu and you will never get off of the couch
And yeah makemkv is a easy route to go, I just kinda hated every month you have to go into the forums to get yet another long line of code in if you need to use it, and takes for ever, so free players, and good to go. If you need to know what they are lmk and I will dig them out and see for you.
As for 4 k monitor, thats a stretch, I have a 50" Hisense H8G which was near top of the line for that brand according to rtgs.com, but I just scored a 1080P older sony Bravia for $20 that was supposed to be broken but a cable came off the power board inside and had it fixed in minutes. Now I also have a 1080P Legit 185hz PC 32" curved monitor (I am trading now btw in the fs/ft forum) and I am sitting here, like always, and been going through all 3 of them over the night. The Sony is but 1080P and as long as you are not right up in its face, cannot really tell which of the 3 is the 4k, when running the same content at the same time. I can say that on my 32"pc and this Sony I LOVE LOVE LOVE the smoothness of them both for the Sony does 120HZ manipulated, when the PC does not. I can hit 185 fps on most my games hitting that sweet spot, but I have to hand it to this older, big time built like a tank tv over the 32". The ONLY reasons I can say why I like this tv over my pc monitor, is its a little bit bigger and since my other 4K is a 50, the are almost the same size all around, making my view in front of me makes me feel better for I have OCD bad, and having my big one on top of my little 32" one just did not look right to me, and was toying with buying another 50, or 32, and which ever I get first wins. It also to my eyes seem just slightly less smooth then the PC unit, but night and day between it and the hisense. The Hisense does 120HZ, but the tv cannot be in game mode to achieve that smoothness in games, and if the tv is not set to game mode, the lag is unreal and sucks, whereas the Sony chugs right along looking fantastic. To top it all off for my through was the Sony does 3D. I know not many care about that, but I have several 3d movies, and games that run in 3D as well, and I told myself after selling off my other 50" 4K Walmart special tv going back to my PC unit, that if I ever got another 50 if it was not a banging 4K unit so I can have all this eye candy in front of me, then it MUST have 3d.
So if you are sitting far enough back, you can get away with a good old 1080P unit for a PC monitor. If you go with a $K tv, they do make them with legit high HZ to them, and I highly must say compare the bands and models on that rtings.com site, lots of good info there to make up your mind as to what to get. OH, and you can buy a cheap internal or external BR drive for the PC for around $70 off ebay and amazon,
My PC Specs are
MSI X570 Edge Gaming Wifi
3600X
16gb of 3200mhz DDR4
MSI 6700XT
Plays everything between 40-80FPS on my 4K with everything turned on
ALL movies without a problem with the FREE app/Programs
On either of the 1080P units it just freaking flys with everything set to max, including over riding setting within the driver, and since it all can be turned on to max on there, I hardly can notice the diff other then the lag depending on the mode, or how the Sony and PC unit play movies, games ever so smooth without the soap opera effect some tvs can do (Samsuck **COUGH**) Please do not buy anything made by them what ever you do, they have gone to crap. Hisense and TCL have seem to hit the market hard pushing out some darn good stuff on the Cheap, but not so cheap, but as far as specs, I know I saved over $700 getting a Hisense over anything else, and in some of the other tv reviews, this one is brighter in HDR mode, which if you do not know, to really get that POP, get one with some bright ass HDR lighting, and Dolby Vision, and try and stay with a Android based tv, for they use the Same OS as the Nvidia shield ( I have 2, love them, if you do not know of them, stop, got look, on ebay under $150, plays pc, and android games) But as such, if you get a Android OS tv (I think Hisense and maybe still Sony for this Sony has Android and it just updated and looks just like the skin on my Shield(s)) You can legit bluetooth a controller to the tv, and play Android games on it, as long as you put a Flash drive in it for the larger files. May not play all the games as good as the shield can, but if you like some light gaming action, and do not have means to a Shield, then next best thing, and all the Android apps to go with it, like the emulation apps you can run off the tv, making your tv into pretty much another game console, but then get the Shield and holy shite dude, fun is a foot there with everything including streaming real PC games from their servers for free, to streaming off your pc in another room lag free.
OK, I'm done, rambling, have yet to go to bed and been over 24 hours since I been up and got another 12 ahead of me

If you need any help or advice do not hesitate to PM me, for I been doing AV for over 35 years, and PC building and repairs for about 28, had cheap to high dollar, and everything in-between.
Please excuse the messy desk, but over hauling stuff to make all this work the last few days and to be sure its how I like it to stay, then I will clean it. And if wondering, the top unit can spin vertically for that full arcade experience
