4k TV at Costco, 3 choices, which will you get and why?

vizio.... the size would be more important than any potential difference in PQ. both are LCD, so will be very comparable in PQ

and no curved screen please, that is just stupid for something measured in inches.Vizio. Local dimming versus no local dimming? No contest. I agree on the uselessness of curved screens on TV's.

Amen. It is bigger and better. There is nothing more overrated than Samsung TVs the last few years (except for their one OLED model and the last high-end plasma model which both came out years ago).

Yup. Full backlit is good technology. Edge lit is marketing garbage technology.
Any sort of LED full array display like that with only a couple hundred of zones is going to have a little blooming, but that is better than edge lit light bleed. In regards to dead pixels every product has its bad eggs. Overall Vizio does good in reliability ratings from Consumer Reports, has better technology, and is larger.
Slam freaking dunk.
Honestly no one should be buying Samsung TVs period. At the low end Vizio is better. At the high end what LG is doing with OLEDs blows their crap away. The only reason I can see to buy a Samsung is if you are a gamer and a particular model has amazing input lag.

65XBR850B I believe is the model I bought. Picked it up as a closeout at BestBuy for $1800 8 months ago. Full-array LED backlight with IPS panel and 120 hz refresh. The smaller panels in this particular lineup used TN panels. You really should checkout AVSforum.com. Lots of info there in the particular brand sub-forums. This really isn't the place for specific TV model info/reviews. AT is really good for just general information.

If I only had $1500 to buy a TV right now that is the one I would get. My friend has one and it makes my plasmas look bad.

Yeah I have been researching in avs, I like Sony, I currently have a Sony, it's 9 years old, but I as I was inclined to buy from costco, Sony is not currently an option... Was looking at them in bestbuy looking impressive and for similar price they have good choices too...

Yup, that is understandable.
The way I see it REAL 4K (as in the Blu Rays and not compressed streaming crap) will be expensive ($300+ players, $20+ disks) for at least 5 or so years. So if I am on a budget (which is why I am shopping for a $1500 TV and not a $5000 one) I wouldn't want to decide based on content that might not be affordable for a while. So I would get the best picture quality I could for the content I DO have, which is a 1080p OLED. I mean, we won't see 4K consoles until at least 2019-2020 and the real benefit from the new 4K standards is HDR which no cheap 4K TV can do. By the time 4K content is cheap, and 4K consoles exist, I would be in a market for another $1500 TV which by then might be a 4K HDR OLED for that price.
With that said, I am pickier about this stuff than most people. Most people would take House of Cards in 4k, pat themselves on the back and call it a day. I got burned back during HD DVD and Blu Ray so I have learned to be patient.

Idk man, I seen 65" 1080p and 4k side by side from Sony Samsung and vizio at bestbuy, difference in the upscaled hd programming is noticible. But as you mentioned, it's a personal preference and I do want to pat myself on the back... So, that's that...

Lol, I wasn't trying to be condescending. I just get tired of people pretending you HAVE TO own a 4K TV to get at a single compressed source that is a bunch of old movies and a drama show.
Given what you have presented the LG OLED isn't even a consideration for you- it is a much smaller TV. If you have a need for a 65+inch TV a 55 inch one won't do, even if it is amazing.
I still think the Vizio is the best option. Probably is the best option at Best Buy too. My real advice is to wait JUST a little bit to Super Bowl time when those things are getting cleared out and you might get a better price.

Super blow time is here, just 25 days more to go. The "deal" in costco is till 1/24, I have no intentions of buying before 24th If it sells out before that, then oh well, tough luck... move on and keep looking.
I visited BB on my way back home, the sales person essentially said Sony or GTFO... not sure because he gets most commission for selling Sony TVs or BB gets the most out of it but be pretty much said that its the best TV, for that price noone does more. has all the latest and greatest features, most selling brand and least returned. I really wanted to buy from Costco because of the double warranty, also its $200 more... otherwise he pretty much convinced me to walk out with one today :biggrin:. back to AVS deep researching SONY, buying TV is not for the faint of heart...

If you are concerned with UHD Movies (UHD Blu-Ray player arrives 2/14 and Disks 3/1) then I would consider waiting until next month and see if any deals pop up on HDR TVs if you can stretch your budget. HDR is a real game changer in terms of picture quality.
If not the Vizio is better than the two Samsung TVs listed. Samsung doesn't make very good lower end TVs IMO. Their SUHD line is fantastic but not for budget minded buyers.

65" Sony XBR-65X810C 120Hz 4K Ultra HD Smart LED HDTV on sale for $1199.99 was Ebay deal of the day yesterday. Deal is dead now but will probably return. For more than $500 savings (no tax/free shipping) this is the deal I would look for.
