I'm looking hard at the Dell UP2414Q. I do not game. I do very light graphic design work. I currently have a Dell 2407wfp, which I think is a great monitor. I will never be able to buy another non-IPS monitor.

Will I notice a difference with a UP2414Q? I'm planning a new build in the spring and I expect a price drop in this monitor when Dell's new 5k monitor is released. Or should I just reuse my 2407wfp until something better comes along? Price is not super important, I just want a top quality set up. I only update once every 5-7 years.

I have been using the Dell UP2414Q for 3 months now. It is awesome. I am coming from a 144Hz Asus gaming monitor and the colors on the Dell are awesome. I do game on it and it does okay. Being able to view 8 million pixels of a picture is unbelievable! The icons and text are micro tiny even at 18 inches from the monitor. Scaling icons and text in Windows 7 is hit and miss. Scaling under Windows 8/8.1 works much better. At 200% scaling icons and text boxes are the approximate same size as they are on a 24 inch monitor at normal scaling. This is one of the best purchases I have made this year. I got the UP2414Q on sale for $800 USD. I have seen the price go back to $800 on Dell's and Newegg's websites a couple of times since. Wait for a sale.

14M pixels vs 2M on my 19:10 display

Who needs multi-monitor gaming setup, when you have this?

Insane difference. I love how much better it looks. 1080p looks blurry to me now.

I've been using a 28" 4K for a bit at work, but I reverted to 2x 2560x1440 27".

I need readable real estate, not higher definition that makes characters look better.

This is on Win7. YMMV with Win8 or Mac. I spent too much time trying to find my mouse pointer... Now 3440x1440, that's something that would make my life better, even more in 2x configuration.
