Hi, I'm looking at getting at 32 inch 4k monitor. I'm a software developer and really like the real estate 4k offers for work but I also enjoy casual gaming. I have 2x GTX 980 TIs and a I7-6700K. I'm looking at getting the new Acer XB321HK monitor. It looks like it would fit my needs but many reviews say it's not great for gaming. For a casual gamer will playing at 60hz with G-Sync still provide a pleasant experience even thought it's not a high refresh rate? I been playing mainly the new Tomb Raider and Watch Dogs. Thanks.

Well since most people have enjoyed playing videogames for the last 10+ years at 60 Hz I think that with a dynamic refresh rate of 60Hz, you will get lot of enjoyment.

You dropped $$$ on 2x GTX 980 TIs and a I7-6700K and you consider yourself a "casual gamer"?

And what actual, credible, hands-on reviews are you seeing for the Acer XB321HK that say this monitor isn't great for gaming? Or is this just based on the "60 Hz isn't enough nowadays" general message board chatter? Regardless, as far as I've seen, a 4k/UHD monitor with a refresh rate higher than 60 Hz hasn't even been announced by anyone yet, much less available for purchase.

Aren't we waiting for display port 1.4 in order to exceed 4k @ 60 hz?

no you a card capable enough to provide such a feat at all times which we might see this on polaris/pascal (i personally doubt that there will be on this gen any card capable enough to play all the games on ultra at 4k)

I only have a single 980ti and went with a 100Hz 3440x1440 G-sync monitor. Partly because I wanted to try high refresh, and partly because a single 980ti can't do 4k.

*However*, with G-sync, I think you're fine anywhere above 40fps visually. Where I have noticed a difference is with games that require fast reactions, they're easier the higher the framerate. The reduced latency means you have a larger window for reactive actions and it can be a pretty big difference.
