Why do Athlon64 mainboards always still support 4GB? Is this just when in 32bit mode and can I use up to 8GB (4x 2GB) in 64bit XP or 64bit linux?

I remember seeing them listed somewhere. Was expecting them in registered types only.

Probably because there are no 2gb unregistered sticks to run so the most you can get is 1x4gb of ram. And I believe windows will only give 2GB to each program so there is really no need for that much memory running windows. Servers yes desktop use no.
