4GB HD available for Sony PSP...

looks too big, and I wonder what's involved to install it? Do you have to take the PSP apart?

i think it just plugs in2 the memory stick port and the rest of it clicks in2 place on the back of the PSP

looks kinda ridiculous..... makes my logitech case useless if i get this done.... might as well get the psp2tv mod done to it too to make the ultimate "huge" hand held...

That looks nasty. I'll stick w/ 1GB memory stick and hope for 2GB memory stick thank you very much.

Surprising that the memory slot provides enough power to run the HD...

This kinda cancels out "Portable" from Play Station Portable.

think of it this way with a 4GB HD u can load every PSP game on it and dont have to carry around any of the actual games 😉

That's HUGE. Things like this would unnecessary if Sony wasn't pulling another Betamaxx with their damn memory sticks and just used CF!

Betamax is far superior in audio and video quality compared to VHS.

It's HUGE, though, it more than *doubles* the thickness of the PSP. Besides, $450 for a portable media player with NO games or movies and a measly 4GB is no damn deal at all. If movies are what you're after, get a portable media center. Same price range and 10-15 TIMES the space.

Somehow I doubt that. UMD's hold 1.8GB, and while I doubt many games fully load the disk, I'd still have to bet you could only carry around a few.

Glad this isn't in the Hot Deals forum, because it's stone frickin' cold.

Yeah, yeah. The time for that argument was 20+ years ago. Sony lost, get over it.

That doesn't matter when it's proprietary. Sony got greedy and killed Beta themselves. Memory stick is proprietary AND inferior.

It would seem to me the thing to do would be buy that, remove & sell the microdrive, & drop in a good quality 4 GB CF card.

Only gaining an hour of battery life with the "X2" battery pack tells me that microdrive is sucking a lot of juice.

is it really an HDD or some solid-state memory? If it's the former, then you'd have a useless, bulky battery if the HDD failed.
