4gb fury x 4k gaming, what games have issues?

your post #19 you stated your single fury at 4k could barely maintain average 60fps (forget whatever min fps is) at high setting (forget ultra setting) without any aa.

no point in further jacking up vram by cranking up texture to ultra or cranking up aa or both. smh.
I was referring to Obduction in particular, where I have to turn the textures down. I get a minimum of 40fps, which is perfectly acceptable for a puzzle game. Hitching is not acceptable.

If there's one setting that you really want up as high as possible to get the most benefit from 4k, it's texture resolution. My Fury has done pretty well up until now, all things considered, but the pressure on VRAM is only going to get worse.

I would wait if I were you Tential, also I wouldn't bother with a 28" 4k monitor. I've had a 4k 28in and I'm using a 4k 40in monitor and the 28" one was very meh in terms of its not big enough to notice the 4K bit.
If you're going 4K go big or go home imho. Also I wouldn't recommend a single 1070/Fury X for 4k either. I ran 980ti SLI and that was good and I could play at decent settings but a single 980ti was a pretty poor experience.
I really noticed having to dial down settings and still not getting a decent gaming experience in GTA5 (without any mods!). I'd really recommend a minimum of 980ti SLI for 4K otherwise I think you'll be disappointed. Waiting a few months may be a pain but spending now for mediocre performance will be annoying having spent all that money. I genuinely think 4K needs Titan XP SLI levels of performance to really shine but a miniumum of 1070/980ti SLI.

I just bought a 32 inch qnix. I'll get a large screen 55 inch Wasabi mango later. I just have no where to put it now.

I intended to get the amd equivalent of 1080ti and get 2 of them but I mean... That could be another 6 months. I'm done playing the waiting game for amd and Nvidia I just can't justify paying that much.

I hope the 32 inch is large enough though.

What games have you been playing that ultra textures are feasible?

all these need more vram scenarios.
at least include game setting and average/min fps.
so one can differentiate between actual gameplay scenarios or imaginary benchmarking scenarios.

I don't remember what settings I used for every game I've played since I got the Fury, so aside from the two mentioned earlier I can only say for sure what settings I used on the other two relatively recent games that I still have installed:
  • Witcher 3: Most settings on ultra, including textures. Stays around 40fps.
  • Grim Dawn: Everything except AA as high as it can go, because it's not GPU limited.
That's probably not very helpful to you, since there's nothing from your list. Most newer games need at least a few settings turned down to high to keep above 35fps, so it stays in the FreeSync range of my monitor. Anything more than a couple of years old will generally stay >60fps at ultra.

Don't care if it's on my list. I gave the list just to help. Its frustrating when there is no viable alternative to the 1070. This is far worse than when the 970 launched and amd only had the 290 to price cut.

I just want some expectations of what to expect that's not benchmark settings related. Anything you can tell me will help. I'll be ordering my fury x gpu once I know when my monitor gets in.

I'm starting to think about the external stuff too like the fact I need a desk lol. Too cheap to purchase a desk deep enough for this monitor so I guess it's off to home Depot to get some mdf and 2 by 4s
