which would you rather have? not considering usage at all.
Assuming that I'm actually going to use it and not just have it to resale...

If I am running a 64-bit OS, I'd go for the 6GB's of DDR2 800.
If I am running a 32-bit OS, I'd opt for 4GB's of DDR2 800.


 
oooh i see. i'm dual-booting XP SP3 for audio recording and Vista Business 64 for games. I will soon load up Mac OS X for shiz and gigglez

so go for 6gb of RAM?
 
ok i now have 6 gigs of memory. but they're not the same brands. two 2gb OCZ sticks on the first channel. two 1gb Corsairs on the second.

Depending on the individual specs of the two brands, it's usually not a great idea to mix & match.
The thing is that you didn't give us much information in your OP.

i'm aware of that...

but this is a temporary solution since I have four extra sticks of memory lying around. eventually i will overhaul my memory altogether
