"Following a call to arms yesterday, the masses inhabiting the anonymous 4chan boards have carried out a huge assault on a pair of anti-piracy enemies."

4chan is just like organized crime and law enforcement should crack down on this lawlessness. You can't blame legitimate businesses from wanting to stop the distribution of their property but they should also respect the law. I doubt attacking The pirate bay is legal.

I hope I don't get DDoS’d for writing this.....

Aiplex DDoS'd a site, so now they're getting it in return. Sounds fair to me.

The problem (or the beauty, depending on your POV) is that if they shut down 4chan another site will just pop up to replace it. The will of the people on the internet is very strong, and I think it will be very difficult to oppose it.

4Chan really should do this to those specific websites more often. After all, how much are you really hurting them by taking their sites down for just a few hours over a weekend?

EDIT > I see aiplex.com is still down, so that's good.

This.

They want to use distasteful methods? Let them see what it's like.

...if only Anon had mountains of cash and a cadre of lawyers willing the bury the MPAA in legal fees.

I am unable to summon any sympathy for those groups. Honestly, when I dug deep all I found was a small amount of glee.

Supposedly MPAA hired groups to DDoS and bring down torrent sites like The Pirate Bay. That's the reason behind this attack. Not that I agree with it, but just to give some context to the attack. It's not random destruction just for destruction's sake.

Especially when it's possible to get behind seven proxies.

Yo dawg, I heard you like proxies...

wouldn't their energy be better spent trying to prove that to be true (assuming it hasn't already) and then turning over the evidence to the media/DOJ to really force their hand?

Sure, it's funny to all of us, but generally pointless in the grand scheme of things.

That sounds like a BS rumor to me. The MPAA may be assholes, but DDoS is not how "legitimate" sites/orgs roll.

This is like Greenpeace vs Whalers. Two groups that are in the wrong fighting over who is more wrong. WTF cares?

Yeah, I'm sure that'll get far.

4chan is out of control, but I really have no problem with cyberterrorism directed at the RIAA and MPAA.
