I am planning on getting a 48x24x1648 burner and I was wondering if anyone else has this and has had any problems with it? Is Lite-On a good brand? Thanks.

Lite on Burners are very good for the price and for copying certain stuff, they are even better than more pricy brands.. What is the price you are paying for this particular one?

I have the same burner (but as a Memorex). It's still on-sale through today (Sat 11/2) @ Staples as follows:

$69.99 (after $10 instant discount)
-$10.00 - printed store coupon form FW site
-$20.00 - Mail-in rebate
-$39.99 (plus tax, if applicable and after discounts, rebates, etc.)

Finally, as a speed test with this drive, I cooked a disc using CloneCD and it took just under 3 minutes to complete the whole process - using some media of questionable quality.

Also, remember that this drive burns with CAV - which keeps the speed consistant through the burning process, unlike other drives that could vary the burn process buy adjusting the speed.

Prior to this drive, I owned a 24x Lite-On for nearly a year. I've never created a coaster or a bad disc this whole time. I'm impressed by what you can get from this company for very little money. :)

I've had no problem with mine. Got it after my Plextor 16X died.

Lite-On CD-RW's are the best bang for your buck. I've got a 48x12x48x in my system and a 40x12x48x in the wife's system. The latter actually burns at 48x thanks to a firmware upgrade. :)
