Haven's seen those anyware. Maybe the VRMs are so hot that ATI doesn't want to show them to the public.

Mine didn't flicker for gpu clock changes, but memory clock changes, every single darn time. Yes I absolutely do believe they did not implement this because it will bother the owners. It definitely bugged the hell out of me. It also probably somewhat lowered the rate of RMAs.

Also, can anyone run Furmark, with a voltage higher then stock (1,312V)? When I tried to do so, Furmark would ALWAYS crash.

Nah not overheating. It is said the volterra chip has a limit, run to many amps through it, and it will shut down the videocard, or stop working correctly. Furmark will crash instantly, so the power circuit doesn't even get the time to heat up.

Games simply dont load the gpu like furmark does.

What are you referring when you say flicker? It's a slight shiver of the image and nothing more. Mine just does it for a quarter of a second . Most of the time it's not even noticeable, being so fast.

Mine did not flicker for that long but the screen shakes/flickers like that albeit for a very short moment of time. It is attrocious and completely unacceptable imo, even if it is just a slight shiver of the image.

Yeah, if it lasts more then a half a second it's not sexy at all. So you've RMA it?

Just got mine.
Played LotRO for a few hours at 950 core 1050 memory. Everything seems fine.

I just set up my MSI 4890 and am disappointed with the results (especially compared to the reviews/comments I've been seeing). At stock, my card is idling @ 63C. I have an Antec P180 case with several fans, so I don't think cooling is the issue.
I run OCCTGPU 0.64 and FurMark @ stock (880/999) and the card reaches up to 85C with the fan pumping pretty high. I can't seem to get any increase in core without my computer crashing. Do you think I need to break it in a bit or did I just get stuck w/ a weak card? If it doesn't show any progress over the next day or so, I'm thinking I'll try to send it back for a replacement.

NICE! First one to break the 1.0GHz barrier! 😀Originally posted by: BATCH71
Hi,
I have my MSI 4890 / Ewizzer deal running @
1000 core
1100 memory
:shocked:FURMARK Torture 12+ hours at max of 51c
I imagine the case temp (inside the case, to be exact) is probably high. For a testing purpose, maybe you can try adjusting fan speed manually? My case has lots of holes compared to Antec P180, and P180 is rather known for its quietness than cooling performance. 85C while running OCCTGPU sounds perfectly fine to me, though, as long as it doesn't crash or gives artifacts.Originally posted by: coolade

Hey, give him a break. We've all been there and done that.Originally posted by: CrystalBay
Is it not fast enough at 880 ???

You could try other things, to possibly improve your cooling, like changing the thermal paste and modify the fan profiles to spin faster and eventually, if the cooler can take it, to increase the gpu voltage.

Welcome to AnandTech Forums, BTW.
