I have an 8600GT, wasn't much of a card when I bought it in August 07. $199 for this seems like a no-brainer, it would probably be 10x as fast as my 8600 in everything. Yeah it's time for me to upgrade.

Shit though, the lowest end 4xxx card would still blow mine out of the water.

AMD laying the smackdown. Man I want to upgrade badly. Going to try to wait for one more generation.

wait for the rv740 that will shake up the prices some more.

What is the rv740? Will that game at 1920x1200?

Replacing the 4830. Same specs, but rumored at 750Mhz, 40nm chip. GDDR5 over 128 bit connection... basically cheaper to make then the 4830 with what looks to be a little better performance. It'd likely be a great cheap set up for Crossfire at that res. A single card would probably manage, but that res would likely be a bit of a stretch. But keep in mind this is supposed to be a card that is sub-$100.

I'm a happy camper... just ordered the MSI 4890 for $183 (AR/CB/FS). When it's all said and done, it will be cheaper than the HIS 4870 I bought (and subsequently returned due to overheating VRMs) a couple months ago. And much faster to boot - not to mention the MSI card is factory OC'd to 880MHz. Finally, my rig is complete!
