The HD 4870X2 usually goes toe to toe against the HD 5870, which the HD 6950 has no problem matching it or outperforming it with much lower power consumption, good choice with the HD 6950, enjoy.

Let us know how it turns out. I love reading peoples experiences, especially someone coming from a 8800GTS. 😀

After having the card for a day and been playing deus ex I am fairly pleased with the setup. Three monitors does add quite a bit to games. Of course running three monitors at 1920x1200 I wasn't able to have everything on max, but I was able to keep most things at reasonable settings. SSAO was the main killer of frame rates. Now the question is after running 3 monitors will I be able to go back to a single monitor for BF3? 🙂 I know I'm not going to be running that on 3 monitors... Without increasing the voltage I was able to obtain 940/1365. Once again thanks to all for help. Signing off...

the 5870 is still faster than a 6950 some cases though.

just an fyi, I have 2 4870x2s and play on max graphics on BF3 with no stutter. I would have said for sure go with 4870x2s

yes you would have needed 1kW (I do)
yes you wouldn't get better performance from drivers
yes they get hot as hell (both of mine sit idle at 85C and jump to 100C in game)

but I bought these literally the day they came out and I've never played a game that could match them. best $1,200 spent ever.
