4870 vs 3870

whats the big performance diference between this two?

I have 3870 CF... it is worth going for a 4870... or wait for the 5xxx series????

Probably not much. You will get better 8xAA performance other wise it wouldn't be worth it. You should wait.

If you're considering crossfire performance, the 4870 will generally be a better choice if you plan on dropping a second one in later. Other than that, the 3870's have less shaders and I think generally take a bit more power than a single 4870, and the 4870 will beat the pair in a lot of titles.

not really .. unless you are going for 4870 Crossfire

i had 2900xt crossfire and a 4870/512M was [only] about a +10% performance increase over it

I think the 4870 is ~2x as fast as a 3870 and handles AA better.

that is what i found; a single 4870 just edges out 2900xt CF .. so to replace 3870CF with 4870/512 is incremental - at best

try a 280GTX, 2x4870 or 4870x2
- if you want to be more "wowed"
