Ok, I have a conundrum here for you.
I recently upgraded my ati drivers from 9.6 to 9.12 (I have a 4870 512mb), and when i start up stalker, during the "credits/videos" before the menu, and durning the menu, my video card makes a fast beeping noise (not beeping persey--it sounds like a tea kettle boiling, but its a very fast beeping really).
I looked this up online--people say that it's most likely a voltage regulator, but I also hear that the 4870 uses digital regulators, so they can't make noise. I also tried uninstalling the old drivers, reverting to 9.6, reflashing my 4870 bios back to orginal (I had flashed it to the Asus Top bios), and underclocked my card tons--still the same problem.
Here's another catch though. It ONLY makes the tea-kettle noise in the startup of Stalker. In the actual game, it makes a vibrating noise, but its not high-pitched anymore (it does this also in furmark). However, it does nothing in games like TF2 and L4D, even with graphics turned up all the way.
Anybody know what the problem is? How i can fix it? Or if i need to return it to Visiontek? (Lifetime warranty ftw)
