I think you're obsessed with Seti

:Q

/me smacks Elledan upside the head! 😛
I run RC5, OGR, G@H, F@H, UD, & D2OL too! 😛

A girl with those machines? :Q Cool... 😀

A regular geekette! 😎

LOL Migroo!

/me packs up a snowball to throw across the Atlantic towards a little island in the North Sea...
/me launches

*smack*

heehee. 😛

:Q:Q Geekette? Yuk!

Hehe just kidding 😉

If you want further proof, ask Poof about her home theatre setup. I start drooling everytime I think about it......

😉😉
😀

LOL@Ray! 😀

I have WAY too many wires (CAT5, coax, power, audio, video) running around my place! :Q
My building maintenance folks think I've lost my mind...
(me too... 😛)

*smack*

OW!... Thats brought tears to my eyes!! 🙂

Hehe you sound a lot like me! In this room I have a bed, 3 PCs and my Home theatre setup! (well not proper home theatre, but it does me 🙂)

You should see my room... luckily I'm a very organized person, or it would be a real mess (read: disaster 😉 ).

Need... to... get.... more.... space...

BTW, if I reach the maximum size of my soon-to-be-build cluster (16 nodes), I'll have 25 PC's in this single room :Q

Even worse: I sleep in this room as well! :Q😱

Awww....
/me throws a little kissy poo across the pond to Migroo. 😉

Well there's no way I would or could put all my junk in the bedroom. My livingroom looks like the Engineering deck on a Galaxy class starship! :Q

What's funny is that one of my computer clubs decided to have a little contest by having us count how many lit LEDs we had in a single room (counted from turning off the lights) and finding out who had the most. I think I had at least 82 visible, just from my sofa - between the hubs and switch and PCs and KVMs, and stereo system, etc.! This didn't include "activity" lights from hubs or NICs, etc., or unlit LEDs either! :Q

LOL! 😛

Well the 55" TV ain't gonna fit in there with everything else!!! 😛
I don't think I have a flat wall wide enough in there for it... 🙁

My bedroom is QUIET!!!! 😀
(*ahem* Uhh ohhhh... /me hopes that minds won't suddenly drop into the gutter on that one... 😛)

You are, of course, making an assumption (perhaps incorrectly) that there are those who actually have left the gutter..... :Q

😉😉😉

ROTFLAMO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😀

*ahem*
(the folks just outside my office were wondering what the heck I was laughing at... 😱 😛)

Gosh... it's good to be back neffin' in this place again! 😛

Argh 😱

82 LEDs! Holy moly! I havent got to that stage yet. I'd need a place of my own and I havent got to that stage yet since I've only been working for 9 months. 🙂
No more machines in here or I wouldnt be able to sleep! Grr @ Noise!

Edit: Actually we arent that far from topic. What we are talking about still fits into the category of 'obsolete' equiptment (I assume - no offence Poof if you have brand new P4s!)

BTW, what was the original topic of this thread? I get the feeling we may have drifted a bit......

LOL! 😀

486s and SETI. And I was gonna drift back on topic to say that when I first bought my 486 back in '92, and then moved into my current apt. in '94, the 486 did sit in the bedroom. 🙂

But then when I got a cable modem and a new (at the time) ultrazoomin'superincrediblyroarin'fast K62-333 laptop - all that stuff needed to be near my little hub and cable modem - which was in the livingroom. 😉

And now.... like 12 machines later... it has become a disgrace....har. 😛

I've been afraid of P4s because of.... RAMBUS! :Q

😛
(plus I wanted to wait until Intel finally decides to settle down on a damn socket format. I'm not exactly ready to obsolete myself instantly by getting the wrong P4... 🙁)

My fastest machine is my T-bird 1.2@1.4. My slowest is a tie between the 486 and the sparc IPX, with my Thinkpad P120 kinda coming in a close 2nd... LOL. Got a bunch of almost obsoletes in the middle - stuff in the 400 - 500Mhz range. 🙂

[EDIT: I guess if I think about it, I kinda finally have a wide range of machines of different speeds... 🙂]

hehe i at the age of 17 have just bought a 16port hub, i guess that means i will need to fit 16 computers into my room 😱 tis only 10mb though so may have to buy a 100mb switch, then i could have 30 computers!! 🙂

Alex 😀

When I was at the age of 17, well... they had just come out with calculators a few years before... :Q😱

😛

Sounds like you are old enough to be my Mum Poof!! :Q hehe

I am a year older than aiex by the sound of it 🙂

Yup. I have access to quite a few machines in the lower range (166 to about 400MHz). I could run SETI on them, but half are in bits, and it wouldnt be worth it really (dont hit me team..)

Age is just a number babe! 😛

Awww... but you're not jailbait either... 😛😀

I remember taking my first plane trip - to visit your fair city, in fact. The year? 1970 and everyone was in mourning after the Beatles broke up! Imagine that! heh heh LOL!

Yeah... it's hard to part with the old clunkers unless you want to qualify for the SETI "Hall of Shame"! 😉

If it was me, I'd probably get everything that was 300mhz and above that I could cracking away. 🙂 In fact, I do have a Cely366 cracking away.....

And MrFluffy has a dual PPro180@200 cracking away, all it does is run our home SETIQ and crunch WUs. 😀

One of these days I may get that dual P100 cracking just for grins. 🙂

Wow, I'm the same age as Alex! 🙂 If I were you those old comps would be cracking. I have ECCp cracking on a Pentium MMX 133 & 200@233! 😀 They're not very good for SETI, but TA is involved in other projects that would appreciate the help 😉.

<< My livingroom looks like the Engineering deck on a Galaxy class starship! >>

You should see what my room is turning in to:

#1
#2
#3
#4

Now picture 16 PC's added to this, plus the necessary Cat-5 cable & 16-ports switch...

See why I need more space? =(

Hehe theres nothing wrong with age Poof. Where I grew up (NOTE: Not the UK, though I am British) those older than you are given a great respect!

(/me smacks self to keep from messin' with the youngin's... )
I may be relatively younger but I can drive a manual car 😛 hehehe 😀

1970! Cool. Yeah there is a fair old following for the Beatles in London (and around the UK) even now. Infact there are many music shops dedicated to rare and beautiful recording!

I'm a Sting and The Police person myself 🙂

<< Hey Elledan! Where did you get pictures of my room???:Q

Bot🙂
>>

Well, I sneaked into it when you were outside. I hope it's okay? :Q😛
