I'm thinking of buying a new video card, but haven't used ATI for a long time. My main concern is noise and cost so the 4850 looks like an awesome deal. If I get one it will probably a visiontek since it's the only one bestbuy sells and I still have some gift cards. I saw a review about the Powercolor which says it's the quietest card around with low power usage. Is this review accurate and would it be applicable to the visiontek?

I've heard lots of people have heat problems with the ATI cards as well so could anyone elaborate on that? Would a third party heatsink void the visiontek lifetime warranty?

Thanks for the help, and if you've got any advice including if there is a better card for me please let me know. I'm thinking of getting 2 of these things and crossfiring since for 300 it's still cheaper than a 280.

I have the visiontek, ran it for a month without the fan fix (~80C load) and it was fine, and silent. Did the fan fix, card runs 20C cooler and is still silent, fan speed at 60%. Setting the fan to 65 or higher emits a noise that is quite audible.

And hey, I have a P180 also, thing is quiet as hell overall.
