Anyone have any feelings on how typical this would be? Since the GTO^2 is either hard to find or the price has been raised, if this overclock is typical then this is a pretty good alternative to the more expensive GTO^2. I know regarding the Connect 3d GTO vanilla there is concern that even if it unlocks all 16 pipes it will be slower because of its memory and potential R423 core, but if this GTO clocks above 600/600 then this would definately be something to consider.

It was $185. I just put a 80mm fan beside the card and it went up to 639/631 before artifacts started showing up. I think I'll need water cooling to get any further, the ram chips are HOT!

Edit: Went back down to 625/620 to be on the safe side, I don't want to fry my new best friend.

Holy crap.

I feel like singing, I have the exact same card. Just got no method of running it yet!

Waiting for a bloody motherboard!

This info is really useful, cheers for posting the thread man!

If you want to try it, take off the cooler and see what's written on the core... If it's the same as mine you'll likely be able to clock as high as me.

What're the numbers on your card?

I forgot to write mine down before I came to college

This GTO may be the card to get at this point.
Newegg just jacked the price up to $269 on the GTO2, and still show "Auto Notify" on the oem model... the supply must be diminishing on them, and the near is end for the gto2

glad I ordered my GTO already. They may raise the price on these too

We still have no idea if this is typical, or just a freak occurance. I may just be one lucky sob:). If Nirach gets the same results, then odds are it's fairly common.

Those numbers look vaguely familer. I'll double check tonight.

I won't be able to test it until the motherboard arrives, which, could be tomorrow or next year.

Sapphire PURE Crossfire Xpress 200. Waiting hurts my face

My card reads:
R480
215RBPAGA11F
GF8566.1
0503AA
TAIWAN PCI>Express

Don't know what the slight difference in the '0503AA' and the '0502AA' means. I'll see what mine can crank out when I get the rest of my stuff.

Has anyone had any luck finding out if this can be unlocked? I've been looking all over for info on this card and can't find anything. Being stuck with 12 pipes isn't so bad with clocks this high, but it'd sure be nice to have 16 pipelines.

Well my Sapphire X800GTO is also a R480 core but without the extra power connector it wont flash to X850XT PE .....however The good news is!!!

It also overclocks to 600Mhz Core & 1200MHz Memory :) YEY

The problem is it runs as hot as #)@%$#@ hell

I put it back to 400/490 for the time being until i get a better cooler for for this beast :p
Zalman vf700 comming my way.

woooooo this thing is now the next big thing after the X800GTO2

Better grab them befor they go up in price !

At the stock 12pipes my best overclock was 590 core 635 mem (3dmark05 5870)

After unlocking to 16pipes my best o/c is 542 core 595 mem (3dmark05 6360)

Either way it's a monster card for $200:)

This makes sense to me--you can only overclock it as fast as the slowest pipeline will overclock. The more pipelines, greater chance of having one that's relatively slow, I guess.
