48 bit LBA

I wanna get a really large HD or external hd. The problem is, I always read there is a 137gb limit to old mobos. Is there anyway in knowing for sure if my mobo supports 48 bit LBA/supports large hds?

Also, if my mobo doesn't support large hds, does the 48 bit LBA also apply to external hds since those are USB drives? Any info is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Your A7V333 probably can support 48 bit LBA, but you may have to update the BIOS. Version 1006 is quite old. For external drive bays, probably anything you buy new will support large hard drives.

For 48-bit LBA to /fully/ work, both the BIOS and the OS must support it. Else you'll have an OS that sees the entire drive, but your boot sequence will be restricted to within the 128 GiB (137 GB) limit.
