Don't know ambient but it's not cold.

19*C = 66*F
It is impossible for running CPU to be colder than ambient!

My room is about 60*F with the window open this morning (50F outside!) and a couple minutes after stopping Distributed Computing my CPU temp is 25-27C. Using RealTemp 3.70.

This is on a 4790K, batch# L336D105 at 4.6 at 1.268v

I am running Prime 95 v27.7 large ffts now to see temps. After 30 minutes the temps are about 69-74C, with max of 72-78-78-65C
After running Intel Burn Test the max temps are - 80-85-84-75C

CPU cooler is Noctua NH-U14S push pull

Ok I think I understand the confusion here. You're probably looking at my location and thinking how the hell someone can get early 20's in a Vegas summer when it's hotter than the sun. :p

I'm in New Zealand currently, and it's winter here. I took that temp around 8pm and at that time the ambient temp outside was probably about 10c. It would have been about 16c in the room which is generally what I prefer.

As I stated it will usually idle around 22-23 during the day. I have no reason to doubt the readings.

Little update: I'm 24h Primestable on 4,6 GHz and the normal 4 GHz Ringclock at 1,249 VCore. The little oddity was offset voltage, because it seems like on the ASRock boards you can either set override or adaptive voltage, but then there is still an offset voltage for higher loads, which by default is set to auto. I switched the later to - 0,01 V so I have a true fixed voltage. Temperatures are 87° C on the hottest core, average was 74,4° C on the Primerun. I'm still waiting for my Liquid Ultra to arrive and I hope I can reduce the temperatures by another 1° or 2°, which should be enough to keep it under 95° C on 4,7 GHz. I think it won't go higher then that, unless I delid.

No, the issue is that very good air coolers still generally idle at around 10C above ambient.

So for you to be getting 20C idle (as per screenshot) your room must be about 10C (or less), or the temp measurement is wrong. That's why I asked what your BIOS was reporting.

I'm not particularly impressed with that, because it's no cooler than the 4771 I had before it.
It's running ~500MHz faster on the same process, though.

Bios states exactly the same. Not sure why you're so reluctant to believe it. My current realtemp is 22-23c and it's ambient 16 in here at the moment.

Running stock? If so, what's your HSF and load temp?

My Prime95 max is 64/63/63/64 at 17 ambient. That's with HT and turbo disabled and an NH-U12S cooling it. I can't read my fan's rpm with speedfan unfortunately. I'm using an NF-S12A PWM instead of the high static pressure fan that came with it, because that fan had a slight rasp in the bearing (thereby breaking my flawless track record with Noctua, which is a pity).

I'm not particularly impressed with that, because it's no cooler than the 4771 I had before it. Not even sure why I care though, running at the stock clock.

My idle is 30 at that same ambient temp by the way, but I have EIST/C States disabled so it's idling at 4GHz.

Well that would make a big difference. Mine idles at 800MHz.

Your prime 95 is far better than mine as I have a poor cooler, just a ARtic Freezer 7 Pro r2 and Prime reaches mid 70's at stock. As I mentioned previously I wouldn't want to go above 4.5 on this cooler anyway. Although I keep HT enabled (i got an i7 for a reason)

Why disable them? Genuinely curious.

Another update: just applied liquid ultra...not sure if it is just the paste or if I applied the Noctua NH3 wrong the last time but temperatures dropped another 10 degrees. I'm confident I can get it to 4,7 perhaps 4,8 prime stable
