479 pin vs 478pin

ok im tryin to do some research here but i can seem to find what im looking for..... i need to know the diff between 479 pin and 478 pin....

basically i have a 479 pin board.... will i be able to run 478 pin mobile on it.....

he has a 479pin and stuck a dothan in its place... from what i know there is no 479 pin dothan.. only 478...... so can i do that??? im tryin to upgrade my cpu in my laptop....

Personally, I've never heard of socket 479!!! Dont think it exists. It should be socket 478. That was just probably a typo.

There are 479 pin dothans. Go here and choose intel pentium M, there are socket 478 and socket 479 dothans. The 478 pin chips are not compatible with 479 pin motherboards, nor are the 478 pin pentium m's compatible with normal 478pin desktop boards, as the chips are not electricaly compatible.

So far there's no way to use the 479 pin pentium "M" on socket 478 boards

Ther are 2 board makers that make a desktop 479 pin board put are very expensive

Are you talking about a laptop or desktop ?

Either way laptop or desktop there's no way to use the 479 socket cpu on a 478 socket

well im talking about my laptop..... SL7F3 looks like a nice cpu for me... does anyone know where i can buy a 479 pin dothan at??
