47% of households own gun

As for the 47%, that number seems a little low.

Yeah, seems low to me also, but it's a poll and it must be totally accurate.

I'm pretty happy to tell any yahoo or clown that calls me on the phone if there's any valuables in my house, where they're located and when we won't be home.

You're just reinforcing my point. I don't think we're in disagreement. It's precisely because he can't and won't enact gun control legislation that the NRA's hysteria is so silly. Wayne LaPierre is actually going around saying that President Obama's inaction on tightening gun laws is part of a "massive Obama conspiracy" to take away our Second Amendment rights - http://www.rawstory.com/rawreplay/2011/09/nra-claims-massive-obama-conspiracy-not-to-ban-guns/

If you like guns, great - I like them too. But if people are buying them based on this kind of drivel, they're suckers.

The rush in November 2008 was very well founded because of democrat controlled house/senate and a president coming in with a record of being very anti-gun rights. Hell, I bought about 100 30 round magazines because I was sure another AWB was coming.

With the current congress, I couldn't see anything passing, but it doesn't mean there aren't reps out there pushing, writing or proposing anti-gun right legislation.

Jeez - cool your jets. I am not your "opposition," nor did I take any measure to shut you down.

What about this topic called for a "reference" like that one? The topic is about the ongoing spike in gun sales, not about the prudency of enacting more gun control measures (which, as I just posted, I oppose). I just don't see how you added anything to the discussion by posting a link to a massive advocacy piece. It's no different than a pro-gun control poster linking to some ginormous PDF of the conclusions and recommendation of James Brady - it adds nothing without at least pulling out the facts you want to cite to.

Put the RNC shill on ignore you won't regret it. 😉

It makes not one whit of difference what they might push, write, or propose. No gun control measure will be enacted in the foreseeable future.

I will say that I regard 100 rifle magazines as a bit much, and given some of the violent rhetoric you have espoused here toward those who don't agree with your politics, it doesn't thrill me that you have them. Fortunately (for that and other reasons) I don't live anywhere near Kentucky . . .

Come to California. The only people who have guns here are the gang bangers. If you own guns you're seen as a crazypersonpsychoticmurdererserialkiller.

Pic related, it's the reason that everyone thinks I'm crazy :awe:

You missed a step.

Not necessarily! There was an article the other day about how some guy was accidentally shot by his dog. And of course there's accidental discharge.

And in the end regardless of any other arguments, the gun was invented with the purpose to kill other human beings. Guns make it easier to kill people and make it easier to do it in a detached manner. I'd say that 95% of gun owners don't make me flinch. It's when mentally unstable people like spidey start stock piling guns that one should get nervous. People like that cause incidents in high schools in Colorado and technical universities in Virginia.

How could a massive infusion of deadly weapons be a cause for celebration? That's sick.

Funny, my dose of that deadly infusion has been around for years and has yet to kill anything but trees (via paper targets). Obviously I'm a sick, rapist pedophile anarchist in disguise. 🙄

Honestly I have to thank mainstream video games for this. Albeit usually in a very inaccurate manner, they've exposed more people to guns and lessened the fear, in fact they associate guns with fun. As they should. Anyone who shoots a gun (outside of deadly circumstances) and doesn't have fun doing it needs their head examined.

I've had people ask me "I want a firearm, just like the one I use in call of duty".

No lies.

The guy who shot up his coworkers at the cement plant here had no problem legally buying an AK-47 in Sacramento.

While sales have gone up the people that know how to properly use a gun have gone down. If I see one more person walking around with the safety off or holding a gun near the trigger guard when handing a weapon to someone I might start joining the anti-gun crowd !

Can't believe when asking someone " did you clear the chamber ? " they responded "how do you do that ?"

I will NEVER hand a weapon to somebody that I haven't unloaded, cleared, checked, cleared again, checked again, action open.
