450watts psu raidmax still not enough power?

I have 450watts raidmax psu with 5 hard drives, 1 dvd, 1 floppy, 6 fans, 1 gigabyte 3d pro, and pny 6600gt video card. when i logon to the windows. pny pop up a message "video card is not getting enough power". is this message wrong or true? if it is right, which psu should i buy to power up this computer i have.

450watts is meaningless if you are using a generic PSU..a 350w enermax or antec woud be better than that raidmax, raidmax is far from being a quality PSU. With that set up, I would recomend at least a 450w enermax, antec, or fortron. You did plug the power connector in to the video card right? If you did, then I would say yeah, that generic PSU is not enough. If the power connector is plugged in to the vid card, try unplugging some of you hard drives and fans, to see if the message goes away, if it does, then you PSU is definatly insufficient. Be careful, I lost a motherboard to a generic 400w psu..

480 watt Antec, enermax, Zippy, PC Power and cooling to name a few(I don't know if all of those companies make 480 watts but it gives you some names to start with)

If it's this PSU, from this case, you could easily be having problems. 14A on the +12V line is NOT enough for all those fans, hard drives, and that video card (not to mention your CPU). It's only *rated* for ~170W on the +12V line -- your video card is probably using ~50W, a high-end CPU can push close to (or over) 100W, and each hard drive is going to need 10-20W (and another 2-5W for each fan). And its actual power output capability could be significantly less than what it's rated for.

You don't always want the psu with the most watts. Look for things like the Amps on the +12V and such. With that setup I would recommend something with atleast 26A on the +12V
