I don't know what's a good score anymore

I have an AMD 64 X2 3800
MSI MB
SATA 7200 RPM
2gb DDR2 667

what are some good overclocking speeds for it? and what is a good tool for this?

might be, I dunno though....Basing it on x1950pro being(was told) better than 7900gs which is what I have and I scored 5085 as of right now with xfx at their speeds.

Dunno, I don't bother using synthetic benchmarks because they mean nothing. If I can run all my games at high-res with eye candy up full I'm fine.

Dude...it's not that hard to find out yourself. Anandtech probably has tons of benchmarks on this or a similar card. If they don't, I'm sure another site does. Just keep in mind that if other scores with the same card are indeed higher, it could just be that the other hardware that they are using is better than yours.

what drivers are you using?, the score is a bit low, I used to get dead even on 5000 with my A64 3000+@2.87 and x1950Pro AGP.

I get 6200+ now with the rig listed below.

i ran some 3dmark06 the other day

my setup

Core 2 Quad @ 3.4GHz
Intel D975XBX2
2GB GEIL PC8500 RAM
(2) ATI X1800XTX 512MB in X-fire
2x 500gb Hitachi SATA-II
Antec P182B with TPII 550w PSU
Zalman CNPS9500 cooler
and Windows Vista Ultimate x86

I ran the tests both with x-fire on and off

off - i got around 5800 points, and on - i get about 9100

your score seems to be about right - maybe a little low depending on how your CPU scales to mine.... if you're running x-fire 1950's i'd expect a higher number!

toadster, I think that I'm going to buy a similar setup to yours in july (after price drops). I'm leaning towards a q6600 (vs e6850), p35 neo2 FR, 2x1 gb ddr2 8500, and just keep my 7600 gt/ps/case/zalman 9700 led/etc. I'm hoping to get around 3.3-3.5 ghz.

oh yeah! it's amazing what these cpu's can do on simple air cooling and my PC sits in a corner sucking it's exhaust all day long...

Yeah yeah yeah. Everytime somebody asks about a score in 3DMark, somebody needs to chime in with why they don't use it. We know, you're above seeing how well your system performs. But this is EXACTLY how these should be used. It's a 'universal' program, that allows him to know whether his system is performing as it should be.

Agreed; 3DMark may not be useful for quantifying how well your system will do in games but it is a good indicator of how fast your system is compared to somebody else's. It becomes less useful when used outside of its generation, though (X1950's may score lower than 7900's but kick their butts in the newest games which require lots of pixel shaders). And Roguestar, there is no need to sound bitter when you have a perfectly kick-butt system .

4,500 is about right. Remember that 3DMark06 loves CPU power, so your X2 3800+ is disadvantaged when many people are running Core 2 Duo's. It will not make a difference in games, however.
