This is for gaming, the computer is for my friend and I'm actually giving him my 500GB hard drive (he knows) and taking the 640GB so consider this a $440 computer with a 500GB hard drive as I'm paying $40 for it. This computer needs to get cheaper if anything as it's slightly past the upper limit. I'm unsure how to make it cheaper without giving up too much and I'm not sure if the motherboard in that combo is decent. I do plan to overclock slightly.

With a 45nm dual core that PSU should be able to handle the load, I know it's quality isn't great.

get a better power supply. you already seem to know it's sub-par. you'd have better chances with a quality 300w, although a little more would be preferable.

if nothing else look at a seasonic 300w or antec earthwatts 380w. both will put out gobs more reliable 12v power than rosewill's supposed 400w.

I'll consider, but I want to focus on the other components for now, especially the cpu/motherboard combo.

Everything else is good, but I would be leery of the PSU still. 400w is plenty, but who knows from a cheapo PSU. I wouldn't want to use it for more than a year or so

I concur with brblx and yh125d: Get a better PSU. Rosewill makes/brands some pretty shitty PSUs. As such, that 400W PSU might actually be a 200W or 300W PSU. I wouldn't want to use it for more than a week. In addition, a low quality PSU can still die and kill parts even if the system is of a low load.

I feel like it's 2005 again, I think that was around when I built my first computer with your help, I got the same responses on the PSU, thanks for your help everyone. I will change that.

Generally looks like a decent build, except for the PSU, which your changing anyway. There was a deal on the Corsair 400cx for $40 after $10 MIR, but that seems to have passed. The Antec Earthwatts 380w or Corsair 400cx would be good options to consider for a quality PSU. You might have to change your CPU out with one that is cheaper to fit the budget. The PhII x2 550 is a good solid choice, but at $110 it's busting your $450 budget. Now with the $20 combo bonus, your really only spending ~$90 on the CPU, but you can get a cheaper option with an AM2 CPU and mobo combo. I'm not sure if you want to do that, but that is up to you.
