$45 a month a bit expensive for an online dating service, don't you think?

Depends on how much nookie you get, could be cheaper than alternatives... 😉

J/K, it sounds steep to me. Plenty of no-monthly-fee alternatives, but, dating is never cheap.

I heard ads on it on the radio.. makes it seem like they are gearing towards more emotional relationships then other sites.

Go to one of the following:

The Onion
Nerve.com
LA Weekly
Boston Globe
Salon.com
Esquire
RottenTomatoes

Check out their personals (all provided by the same service), usually "personals.DomainName.com". You pay for each time you contact someone, but in theory you could pay $1 (or thereabouts), meet someone nice and date them for a couple years, dump them (or get dumped) and come back and still be able to use the remaining $24 on your account to contact people. Much better business model.

The girl I'm dating now who I met through that service is about a thousand times better suited for me than the (few) single girls I come into contact with when I'm just going about my business. Of course, my industry (games) is heavily male dominated, so that's no surprise.

And for those who are so worried about their reputation... don't you trust the new york times? They reported:
Online dating dumps its losers.com reputation
