4400+?

So i decided im building a new computer soon... i have a couple of questions, however.

Also, im sorry if this isnt exactly pertaining to this particular forum, but this seemed liket hes best one to ask about a new rig setup.

I think ive decided to go with an AMD 42X2 4400+ (probably throw the freezer 64 on it)
a DFI LANparty ultra-d mobo
2 gigs of ocz pc3200
radeon x1900xt(x) (no crossfire)
ThermalTake armor VA80000 BWS case (http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php/masterid=6608455)
Audigy ZS2 sound card

So basically, a pretty top-of-the-line system. My questions are:

Is this the best setup i can get (without going to a 4800+)?
Should i wait for the AM2 or will it take 8 months for mobos to be ready for that and compaitlbe with the ddr2 ram?
Are any of the lesser 64X2's better than the 4400?
Should i opt for the 7900GTX over the x1900 xtx?
And the most important one; which motherboard would be THE best for this setup?

I dont plan to overclock it immediately, as there would be no need.. but i probably will end up doing it in the future as to delay my next upgrade. Basically i just need advice on thebest setup i can get for around 1800 (minus monitor), and would waiting the the AM2 be worth it?

Any suggestions, or comments would be greatly appreciated, thansk in advance.

X2 4400+ is a great choice now, or four months from now. Mild overclocks to 2.5 are easy and make it a better performer than the 4800+ due to the larger cache. Overclock it to at least 2.4. It will do it on 1.35v. Awesome.

This OCZ
or or this OCZ (likely discontinued soon) are good choices.

How about a 7900GT? A core volt mod brings it close to a 7900GTX.

How about a Soundblaster X-FI Extreme Music? Nice card.

As far as MOBO, opinions are subjective. A newegg search is the best way to determine what people like: Top socket 939 boards

AM2? Not worth sweating over...

OK, fist of all.. even with HIGH OC CPU's high clocked ram does very little to effect performance of a system. so that will be fine

2nd GO WITH OPTERON, they have 1mb L2 Cach for each core, they overclock much better due to better silicon and...they have a sweet name 😛 I'd recomend the 170 (every one that I've heard of can at least do 2.6ghz at stock volts --- Good stepping can get you as high as 2.9-3.0)

3rd Please God, just for the sake of not wasting money, don't go with the 7900gtx, it will be $200 cheaper in 2months. get the GT

I am a serious newbie to ocing and am also in the market for a nice new dual core cpu. What in your opinions would the best X2 to get that is quite easy to OC. I am very worried about toasting my system!

The only reason I'm not a newbie is because I've read a TON about it, and then put it into action with my CPU.. probably around 30+ hours of reading though.. anyway, as long as you dont up the volts to the CPU it will be fine and increese very little in it's heat as you increese the overclock.

The 4400+ and 4800+ have the same L2 cache size. Mine even went to 2.4 at 1.3V and 2.5 at 1.39V.
