Hi Guys,

I want a monitor and my work includes: Programming, JupyterLab, Data Science, Lot of reading, writing and browsing and I watch Blu-Ray1080p movies and live YouTube 1080p streaming videos. That's all I do. I was wondering what size will be good enough. I looking at LG 25" Ultra-Wide, LG 27" and LG 29 Wide". If you want to see full list of hardware, you can check my PCPartPicker page. (Hyderabad, INDIA, https://www.amazon.in)

What is your budget for a new display? A 4K 40" or 43" one will allow you to have four 1080p usable windows displayed. Many hardcore programmers have this kind of display for this reason.

How common are 4K TVs in India? There are a few that are suitable for usage as a computer display.

Pretty common TVs will be 1080p. 4K are expensive.

I did more search on forums, here and at tomshardware and hardforum too. And came to know that for browsing and searching and programming, things get pixelated for 1080p above 24". For anything 27" or beyond, 4K should be the way to go. I guess I will settle for LG 25" Ultra-Wide I mentioned in my original post.

In my 1080p experience, the standard size for comfort is between 24-27 inches.

To choose between them, it's more of a personal thing. For your eye eight, and viewing distance from the display itself. Not to mention personal opinion, etc.

I decided to pump-up my budget because I won't be upgrading anyhting on my PCPartPicker list for next 3 years at least. I saw these 2 reasonably priced monitors that I can afford: LG 32" and 29" Ultra-Wide . I watched this YouTube video and 32" does not look that pixelated. What you guys say:

You would have to see it in person to know for sure. I bought my son a 27" 1080p monitor last year, and the pixels seem large and really jump out at you. It's probably something you could get used to, but it would personally drive me nuts. He likes it now that he is used to it, but if I had to do it over, I don't think I would have gone that large with 1080p. Whenever I sit down to do something on his PC, it really stands out compared to my other son's monitors which are 24".

I think monitors up to 25" are perfect for 1080p, but any larger would be out the question for me. Heck, my 32" monitor is 1440p, and I think that's just about right for me (although 32" looks pretty good with 4k as well).

Oh, those pixels drive me nuts too. I once saw 1024x768 on a 19" DELL monitor, I hated it. Was getting it for dirt cheap but I did not buy. Since you like 32" with 1440p, I will check out the prices and see if I can get something within my budget else I will go with my usual 25" Ultra-Wide LG I mentioned in my original post

MarQ is by Flipkart itself. generally they have very good quality stuff, so yeah, no worries about quality but thing is monitors are made differently, like for proximity when it comes to eyes and screen. How does that work for a TV, i don't know, still reading about this

Well, i don't need four, two 1080p displays will be more than enough for me.

I need two 1080p windows displayed properly, that's more than enough. More than that it is just an overkill. (even two 720p windows side by side will be fine). Currently I own 19" monitor (LG 19M38AB)

Thing is 34" ultrwawide at 2560x1080 is $100 more than 43" 4K UHD TV

i dunno about you, but if i'm programming or word processing or anything else where i'm mostly vertical scrolling, i want more vertical resolution. 2160 is double the lines. i'd take that every day of the week and twice on sunday. my concern with getting a 4k tv, though, is whether the text is any good or not. assuming it properly displays text, it's a no-brainer.

yes, Chroma Subsampling the whole problem here. In India, no manufacturer mentions it and no sellers/dealer knows it either. Of course, the UHD TVs with 120 Hz of refresh rate will definitely have 4:4:4 Chroma Subsampling but then they are way more expensive. I was looking at few models:

Kodak 4K UHD

MarQ 49 inches 4K UHD

Both of them $50-100 cheaper than 34" ultrawide monitors.

Yeah, they do have big brands. The ones I posted though do have really good quality. 2nd, generally the reason that I mentioned 120 Hz display is that if they are putting that much high refresh rate (compared to 50-60 Hz) then generally they will have 4:4:4 with 4K @60 Hz. It i snot a rule and may not be true in all cases.

I have watched several videos and now decided to go with a 34" inches ultrawide 1440p monitor but because of budget constraints (shipping to India costs $100 extra above MSRP) I decide to stick to 27" curved Samsung (LC27F591FDWXXL). Here are the videos I watched, I have watched 10 times more than what I am posting here, these are the few selective one which will change the way you think about buying a monitor:
