What people are failing to realize is whether or not the 'rich' pay more in taxes or not, the amount the contribute is usually far better for the 'average joe'

This is one of the reasons I am for a total sales tax system, with certain built-in deductions (basically make your standard 'level' of living for everyone a non-taxable amount)....

Therefore those that buy more, pay more.

I didn't go to college (actually I did, I just got a job and left before I finished), I'm the only person working, and yet I make well more than the average household income.

Then again, I was always well ahead of the curve throughout school. Education can cure ignorance, but nothing can cure stupidity. You're stuck what you're dealt with in that regard.

I'm right there with you bud. 118 hours of general studies, no degree and jobs keep falling out of the sky. Of course I've got nearly 10 years of experience in IT, so that goes a ways... 🙂
 
Right now, I'm in school going for a DDS in a few years. My wife has already graduated and earns 45000+ a year as a food technician. The opportunity is out there for all those to grasp. I've heard of way too many stories of those who went from slums to becoming doctors, lawyers, businessman, dentists, etc to believe it can't be done. Shot, I personally know an African American man from slums New York who has a dental practice in Papillion, NE and is doing very well for himself. I have the utmost respect for the man!

You say that as if keeping that money here would take care of the poor. Silly rabbit, your ignorance is for kids.

My sister, brother and I grew up without a father; Mom worked two jobs, sometimes three. We lived in ghetto tract housing, lived out of a camper for a summer, got our clothes from churches and the salvation army until I was in Jr. highschool.

I'm the oldest of my siblings at 35 and we're all productive, successful members of society, we are all home owners and we're gainfully employed. I have a decent investment portfolio and I've just sold my first house and am building my next one for $341k. None of us got a 'break' in life. We've all worked hard for everything we own and we know that life doesn't guarrantee a successful future; we could lose it all in the blink of an eye.

I didn't have any male role models or have anyone showing me the way other than to offer me and my family a place to sleep at night or help us out with groceries. I have strength of faith and a mind to better my experience in life. I don't blame someone else for my not having been born with a silver spoon in my mouth. I appreciate the work of my hands and I'm pleased to help others.

Damn the victimized mindset of the hand-out crowd. I AM the demographic that the whiney left claims can never get a leg up in life.

I just choose to use what the good Lord gave me.
